Game Thread Ohio State at Wisconsin, 10/15/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

If a review needs more than a minute, then the play on the field stands. We need some kind of check on CFB referees because its evident year after year, they become more and more inconsistent with these instant replay calls.

I don't understand the mental gymnastics these refs go through to change their mind on what is supposed to be no-brainer calls.

It's saddening tbh...

I don't know that we have discussed it much here but am I understanding the B1G's new set up correctly? Are the onfield officials reviewing their own calls? I heard a quick blurb about it in week 1, some such bullshit about it helping them explain the calls better to the crowd but I haven't ever seen confirmation.

That seems galacticlly stupid if so.

Waking up this morning, I thought, "sure, it's always nice to give a team a good fisting, but after said fisting ala Wisconsin 2014, sometimes it's even nicer when that team gets you at home, at night and it's crazy, starts out shoving the ball down your throat and then...sorry, you're still Wisconsin."

I can live with that.

Plus, they are still a solid team in a tough atmosphere and a bunch of youngsters withstood all of that and took their candy (fittingly in October.) At least it wasn't against an NC State team at home. I have no worries about the polls this week. [Yoda]Number 2 we will be.[/Yoda]

Yeah, let's have a 55-60 year old man look at a 10 inch screen to see if the ball touched the ground. That's brilliant.

here is the deal

on field guys collaborating with guys in booth, not doing their own replay review

I'd still rather have it go to a centralized location and be reviewed by someone detached from the game. The random chance of each B1G officiating crew being somewhere between incompetent and criminally incompetent adds too much volatility to the whole thing.

I agree with you in that if you have to split hairs and watch it over and over again then it's not "indisputable" evidence that the call should change - let it stand.

The issue with an arbitrary time limit is that often when a call is changed, even correctly, it takes a bit to figure out where the ball goes back to and how much time should be on the clock. The last thing anyone wants is for that aspect to be rushed and screwed up as a result.

I said it yesterday and I'll say it again, I would rather play Bama or the Vols down south at night than to play the Badgers during a night game at Camp Randall.

People can scream blasphemy all they want, but it's true. I think if the Bucks played Bama last night, they wouldn't need OT to walk away with the W.

This Badger team and the rest of the opponents left on the B1G schedule will be the toughest ones we face, regular and post-season. If the Bucks crack the playoffs, no one scares me outside of this conference.

B-1-G! Yes, it has arrived.

On the topic of criminally negligent officiating in the B1G... how 'bout those hold calls / non-calls last night? Was it me or was it just really bad (both ways)?

Every drive for Wisky I bitched about the holds, and a lot of it was during blocking on the edge... and then we get the ball back and I think to myself, "well, we got away with one there..."

I was screaming at blatant holds the entire game. Whisky was holding the shit out of us much worse than the hold they called in ot on jones.

Even worse they were inconsistent.

They let pretty much anything go for both sides all game then started chucking flags for holding on damn near near anything late.

I don't recall seeing that particular set of goobers before. Hope we don't see them again.
