Game Thread Ohio State at Wisconsin, 10/15/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

??? Stave was a serviceable QB but not much more than that. I will venture to say Hornibrook will be substantially better by the time his career at Wisconsin is done.

Stave was a 2 time Big Ten champion, division champion, and a 22-6 starting record. He set school records for wins and win percentages. He threw for over 7,600 yards and 48 TDs, ranking second in both categories for Wisconsin history. He was also #2 in Pass attempts and #4 in completion percentage. He threw for over 200 yards in 18 games (school record). He was the winningest QB in Wisconsin history, a 4x Academic All Big Ten, and was the Bug Ten Medal of Honor recipient. He won 2 bowl games and was the MVP of one.

To Wisconsin, Stave is a big name...

Right, but some of those stats were piled up because he started for three years. I don't think anyone ever really looked at Joel Stave and said, "Boy, we really need to contain that guy." The fan base was always extremely split on him.

weather report is getting nicer and the line is going up, just sayin

My personal prognostication is that if the weather is decent OSU is way too much for Wisconsin. I don't care where or what time it's played.

Bad match up for Wisky just like it will be for tsun.

3+ TD spread
Agreed...I got a 3 score game...think it will go much like the Oklahoma game did.

For Wisconsin standards, he was a stud. Anytime you are breaking records you are going to be considered a benchmark for future QBs.

I think Wisconsin fans would disagree with that assertion. He fought through adversity, was a good student-athlete, and played on a couple solid teams but he was never a stud on the field. If one considers Russell Wilson an outlier, I'd say a guy like Tolzien would be the benchmark for what they look for in a QB: someone with a high completion pctg and few int's.

My mistake, I thought future QBs would want to break current records and become the winningest QB

Now back to current Wisky. I have the same feeling about this game as I did Oklahoma. I just don't fear Wisconsin. Their offense is no match for our Defense. We have a top 15 rush D and rushing is the best hope Wisky has. Letting Hornibrook open it up in the air is just asking for our secondary to pick him off multiple times. As far as our offense bs their Defense is concerned, I'm sure it will be a battle for a quarter, but once the rythem starts for JT & crew, the crowd will be a non factor.

If the D comes out and stuffs the run early, it's big trouble for Wisconsin. Liable to get ugly if they have to start airing it out because they cant get anything going on the ground.

MY, imo is that their defensive #'s are inflated by the one dimensional offenses they have faced so far and yes, I include tsun in that.
