Game Thread Ohio State at Penn State, 10/22/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

Is that Joesus hiding his head in the snow?

I'm sure it is; however, to remove any doubt they should have painted in the "shit stains" in his pants.....

THE COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO GAME DAY IN STATE COLLEGE

75575_h.jpg,qitok=S4sQxuxT.pagespeed.ce.34JoR4YOZY.jpg

As it happens, one of our Roar Lions Roar staff members happened to be perusing the 11W forum the other day, and noticed some people talking about what to do when visiting Happy Valley for a game, as I imagine a number of you are for this upcoming weekend's clash. Well, seeing as how most of us at RLR are experts on that very subject, we figured we'd drop by and give you our suggestions (and backup suggestions) on how to do game day right in State College.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet some of you this weekend (a large group of RLRers will be around the tailgate fields), so, I don't know, just walk around yelling "I READ ELEVEN WARRIORS" and maybe we'll find you that way. Or be a normal human and enjoy your day without doing that. Your choice.

STEP ONE: GETTING INTO TOWN
As many of you have already mentioned, getting into town on game day itself is a nightmare. Because of its middle-of-nowhere location, there are only so many ways you can actually enter State College. Most of the signs leading up to the town will direct you straight to the stadium, where the longest lines of cars will be.

You could try your luck with going through the town of State College, rather than going straight to Beaver Stadium, but there will likely be traffic everywhere. Instead, my suggestion would be to just take the most direct route to the stadium you can, and load up the 11W and RLR podcasts in preparation for the game.

If at all possible for you and your situation – get there on Friday, the earlier the better. The tailgate fields open early on Saturday, and you can get in line right away the next morning. If you venture downtown, there are plenty of places you can either park for free or for next to nothing at all times on game day weekends. However, if you don't have a hotel/motel booked already, you likely won't find one.

STEP ONE ADDENDUM: GETTING TO THE FIELDS WITHOUT A CAR
If you're lucky enough to be driving the car that doesn't need to be there for the tailgate, I would highly suggest parking away from the stadium (downtown is your best bet) and walking up. It's a little bit of a hike, but this is also the time of year when campus is at its most beautiful. So cut through campus (just follow the hoards of people moving that direction). Get a quick look at our beautiful, swanky hockey arena (Pegula Arena) on the way, and then find your tailgate of choice. If necessary, you can grab a cab or an Uber, plus there's a CATA bus that costs like $3.

THE CONSPIRACY

You've probably heard the Big Ten openly screws Penn State whenever it plays the Buckeyes, but you're cool with that because woooooooooo go Buckeyes.

The last time the teams met in State College Vonn Bell trapped an interception that should have been ruled incomplete despite him appearing to maintain control. The Buckeyes were also given a couple extra seconds after the play clock expired to kick a field goal, which you might have also thought was okay if you subscribe to the idea that time is a flat circle. Two lousy calls.

They were part of an elaborate, larger plan by Illuminati refs to elevate Ohio State to a victory via questionable early game officiating (still can't figure out how the back judge managed to hold Penn State to 16 yards rushing that evening or miss little things like eye-gouging a quarterback but some mysteries are better left unsolved).
.
.
continued
.
.
But let's get to the here and now, 14 years later. The two teams meet again Saturday night, and currently Ohio State is dead last in the Big Ten in opponent penalties. Guess which conference team is benefiting the most from officiating in 2016:

B1G: WHOSE OPPONENTS GET FLAGGED THE MOST?

This is an interesting chart: http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-...2016/10/75488/the-situational-come-as-you-are
You know, we totally forgot to complain about HOW WISCONSIN FUNDED A FREAK MONSOON. Such outrage... meh... but anyway, we should totally get their contact for... future reference.

I agree with the replay official that night. FIRST DOWN, OHIO STATE! :tinfoil:

Penn State played 2 B1G powerhouses, i.e. Minnesota and Maryland.

They're not even in the top 60 in scoring (#61 at 30.5 ppg). Here are the defense rankings of the teams they've faced, along with the points they scored against them:

............. Total .. Scoring .. Pts
Kent State .... 34 ...... 70 .... 33
Pitt .......... 59 ...... 91 .... 39
Temple ........ 17 ...... 38 .... 34
Michigan ....... 1 ....... 1 .... 10
Minnesota ..... 35 ...... 32 .... 29 (OT)
Maryland ...... 36 ...... 31 .... 38

Also, here are the scoring differentials between what OSU and PSU scored and what their opponents allowed in game other than OSU/PSU (we don't have a common opponent yet)

OSU
Indy .. 22.8 .. 38 .. +15.2
Wisc .. 12.2 .. 23 .. +10.8

PSU
Mary .. 17.8 .. 38 .. +20.2 (lost to Minn 31-10, the next week) played Howard (1-6 in FCS) and FIU
Minn .. 19.8 .. 26 ... +6.2

FOR PENNSYLVANIA NATIVE MALIK HOOKER, SATURDAY'S OHIO STATE–PENN STATE MATCHUP IS 'JUST ANOTHER GAME'

75589_h.jpg,qitok=9iOdDpyy.pagespeed.ce.xD1nTpXaXX.jpg

The number of scholarship players on Ohio State’s roster from the state of Pennsylvania currently stands at one.

That player is redshirt sophomore safety Malik Hooker.

But despite being the only member of the Buckeyes from the Keystone State, Hooker said Wednesday after practice the return trip this weekend for a game at Penn State doesn’t really matter all that much to him on a personal level.

“It’s not too different. It’s just another game,” Hooker said. “I guess you could say that because I’m going back to my home state and a lot of people from back home are going to be watching and stuff like that, but to me, it’s another game.”

Those who have watched Hooker this season have certainly been impressed.

The New Castle, Pa. native leads Ohio State with four interceptions — a number that leads the Big Ten and is tied for second in the country. He announced his presence to the college football world during his first-career start, a 77-10 victory for the Buckeyes over Bowling Green, when Hooker closed serious ground from his safety position, tipped the ball up with one hand, and corralled his first-career pick.

When he was asked if people might know him a little bit more now when he makes that return to his home state this weekend, the redshirt sophomore flashed a big smile.

“Yeah, it’s definitely always good to go back and a lot of people know who you are and are aware of what position you play and stuff like that,” Hooker said. “But again, it’s just another game for me. I don’t look at is as I’m going home and playing in front of anybody. I’m just going there to try and get the job done.”

Penn State defender: Braxton Miller best quarterback I've faced

Penn State’s Evan Schwan considers Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett to be a “great” quarterback, but when asked Wednesday on the best QB he has faced while at Penn State, the defensive end named a Buckeye, and it was not Barrett.

“The best quarterback? I mean, playing last year, Cardale (Jones) at Ohio State was impressive,” he said. “But the best I’ve ever played against? I’d say it was Braxton (Miller) a few years ago when he was solid at quarterback before he got hurt and J.T. and Cardale came in and kind of battled for the job.”

His ranking of Miller above the other two was based on one trait in particular.

“I thought he made plays with his feet whenever his reads weren’t there throwing the ball,” said Schwan, who is in his fifth year at Penn State and played against Miller in 2013. “He controlled Ohio State’s offense. With the success that they had I felt like he was kind of the leader behind it all on the offensive side of the ball, but also in general.”

New Castle is actually closer to Columbus than it is to State College. Lots of Pitt fans there.
