Game Thread Ohio State at Oklahoma, 09/17/16 @ 9:00pm ET, FOX

The desperation angle cut both ways. It could fire OU up, or it could cause them to implode if tOSU jumps out to a quick 2 TD lead...

Desperation definitely has a chance to cause a team to try to do to much. A early turnover would be the worst possible thing for OU, so heres to hoping that the bullets can make that happen.

I can understand them falling asleep against Utah. OU once played Boise State and didn't feel up to playing such an irrelevant opponent.

You don't fall asleep playing against Oklahoma though, even if you're Alabama. Especially when they have a losing all-time record against us and haven't beaten us since the 1963 Orange Bowl when JFK was president. (You know, the man who saved us from the Cuban Missile Crisis.)
There's has to be a let down when you aren't playing for the NC when you are use to it though. Last year while I was pumped to watch osu vs Notre Dame I also didn't sense the amp that is created with a playoff experience.

You also shellacked Notre Dame pretty soundly, so I really don't understand what your point is.

OU suffered no "letdown" against Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl at the conclusion of the 2001 season.

I hate that we're giving credence to Alabama fan's excuse that they only lose games when they didn't want to be there, but just because Ohio State 2015 and OU 2001 didn't have a let down doesn't mean every other team also wouldn't have a let down.

Siding with Mili on this one. Desperation is a terrible thing to have on your mind. It locks you up, you become more robotic and so concentrated on not messing up/perfecting every single play that you forget to just make plays. Ohio State has the advantage that a loss doesn't eliminate them from a playoff spot, but you know that it does for UO and it has to be on their minds.

I'd rather has aspirations than desperation any day of the week. One mistake becomes 2, and 2 becomes 3. Before you know it, you're all over the place. It's actually a big topic in Air Force aviation CRM classes.

When you play an opponent twice in 49 years, and both games came during the lousy years at Alabama, I don't think anyone cares very much about the all time record of three freaking games.

That's because they're terrible, and it's not september, so OSU didn't win any championships or heismans in the process like Rich Rod's wolverines did annually.

Arkansas opened the year 1-3. They were briefly ranked #24 before their 4th loss, and were not ranked before their fifth loss to OU.

I would hope you wouldn't letdown against that kind of opponent, though it was a 10-3 barn burner.

Not really...That's 2 of the 3 games they've (Houston) hasn't found much on the ground. A trend for Houston and while I think OU has a good run defense my point is other then Greg Ward they really didn't have much to stress OU side line to side line.

As far being prepared both sides have that Houston game tape. We know how and what to do against them and we also know what they did well against Houston.
Ok. All I'm saying is transitive theory in play here. What happened in that game not likely to apply here. Different point in the season, different lead up, etc. I'm not saying we won't move the ball on them, perhaps we will, but I don't gain confidence because of what UH does.

I'm just saying if you're a good rushing team you go for 200+ against teams like the Bearcats and until late in the game they were held to around 100 yards rushing.

Go figure once Houston went up 2 scores they put on some yardage to make it look respectable but it was not a good performance by Houston again.

Not saying OU is horrible or anything because statistically theyre quite good but just that the teams they've played have chosen to throw the ball more so.
