Game Thread Ohio State at Michigan State, 11/19/16, 12p ET ESPN/WatchESPN

That weather will be no problem. Curtis already has ice in his veins and the defense will skate a trail of blood over the faces of Sparty's offensive corpses. Then Meyer will surf to midfield like Iceman and high five what's left of Dantonio's pride and we'll blow smoke rings with our breath while singing Carmen Ohio.

Everybody talks about that 1974 game, but my worst /best memory was from 1972. My cousin and his Air Force buddy had just returned from Vietnam and they had an extra ticket for me. We drove to east Lansing in my cousins' friend's 340 duster, 4 speed hurst shifter, after market ram air, rough cam. They were still in war mode, and were trying to pick fights with the entire MSU student body. I am 15 years old and sure that I am going to die. We lost the game, and my cousin and his buddy drank an entire bottle of ancient age that they smuggled into the stadium. They were both too drunk to drive and passed out in the car. So I drive that freaking beast back to Columbus on my learners permit, no maps, and about 30 minutes of prior standard transmission experience on a ford tractor. I have never been so happy as when I found 23 south. Sadly my cousin died 2 years ago, but I will remember that trip to east Lansing for the rest of my days.

Stories like this make me proud. I have a few of my own, but yours is better by far. I've dragged a bum leg across Columbus on foot in a blizzard, but I'd much rather do that than endure a loss in East Lansing and make that drive back at 15.

That's MVP worthy.

I have no idea why, but apparently we are driving up to E. Lansing for the game on Saturday. The only pro's on the pro con list are "why the fuck not?" and "we'd be stupid NOT to". Everything else says this is a terrible idea.

If anyone is interested in making the pilgrimage, tickets are dirt cheap right now. Ours are $33 each and they are low in the upper-level near the 20-yard line.

My half brother lives there. Complete traitor. His weirdo daughter went to MSU & subjected us to her wedding reception at the stadium. It made me sick. Literally. The day I was forced to drive up, I spontaneously got a fever, chills, etc. Haven't been back since.

Anyway, he was born and raised in Columbus. Tells us he roots for Ohio State except when they play MSU.

He's a complete dick anyway. Campaigning my Dad to write him out of the will.

'Whenever we lose at Ohio State it's because we beat ourselves' Buckeyes Not Looking for Payback?

FieldGoalAttempt.jpg

Ohio State heads to East Lansing this weekend to take on the Michigan State Spartans nearly a year to the day of their last meeting, which MSU won 17-14 in Columbus.

That game cost the Buckeyes a lot and it's a game that a lot of people still look back on because of the opportunities lost. While some might view this Saturday's game as a chance at revenge or payback, the players don't really see it that way.

"We beat ourselves," linebacker Raekwon McMillan said this week. "Whenever we lose at Ohio State it’s because we beat ourselves, gave up some key opportunities to make plays last year in a big part of the season and it played out how it did.

"We lost in our stadium last year. I won’t call it revenge, we just want to get back out there get the job done this weekend and not focus on all the things around the game. It’s an away game and we want to get the job done."

Last year's game was a particularly rough one for quarterback J.T. Barrett, who threw for just 46 yards in difficult weather conditions. With arguably his best game ever coming against Michigan State in 2014, the outing in 2015 is attached to him just as securely. Even still, he's not thinking about revenge.

"I don’t think it’s revenge," he said. "Would I say I forgot? No. Does it mean a lot each year playing against Michigan State? Absolutely, but revenge, I don’t think that’s the right word to use for them. It’s just a battle each time we play one another. It’s not a blowout game. It’s always been one of those ones that goes down to the fourth quarter."

I remember that '04 game, with Teddy catching a slant and flashing about 60 yards with about a minute or so left and us trailing 19-17, and then Mo Hall scored from about mid-field near the end of the game to ice it. I think Ginn had a punt return TD and a wild reverse TD, too IIRC...

You recall correctly.

First TD at 10:50 mark (rushing)
Second TD at 15:20 (punt return)
Third TD at 2:07:30 (receiving)

Fucking weather! MSU can blow me with the bullshit weather they always get. Wish it wasnt happening but it is.

I don't see a loss but the weather will play a role in our rhythm. IF our guys lay the smack down big time, they are going to go all the way to the Championship game. I see a closer game though. Buckeyes 27-13 in the snow and ice garbage.
