Xavier's big men averaged 8.1 three point attempts per game during the season. For Tennessee it was 4.3.

For Memphis that number is 1.2.

Translation - their is nobody on Memphis who should draw Oden away from the basket, which is what has taken him out of the last two games. Memphis is very athletic and very fast - but when they cut to the hoop the big guy should be waiting for them. Look for some zone.

We built a lead on Tenn last night with Oden, Hunter, Harris and Cook all on the bench for an extended period (only three players in that gamed logged more than 20 minutes). If we are awake by 5:15 I feel good about this one.

Calipari at his press conference today (paraphrased):

"Our offense is a combination of a European offense and a Princeton offense. You see back door cuts - it takes some bright kids to run it. If you want to call if draw-n-kick, OK, but it's much more than that."

From a Tiger fan perspective......the key will be the inside game. Dorsey (Tiger Center) isn't known for shooting anything outside of 3 or 4 feet. So I wouldn't think Oden would have to vacate the lane and if he plays smart and doesn't foul - it will be a tough game for Memphis. Memphis has inside players that can shoot from 12-15, but they aren't prime time players and aren't ready for such a challenge. If we (Tigers) are hitting 3's which we haven't done during the tournament - we start running hard...inside and out. It will be a great game......but I couldn't imagine any better than the two we played yesterday.

Good Luck - Go Tigers Go!

I think we match up much, much better with Memphis than we do with a pressing, lights-out shooting team like UT. In fact, there's only about 1 or 2 teams in the entire tourney that I feared more than UT coming into the tournament...and Memphis isn't one of them. That said, they've been impressive so far.

Doesn't sitting on those tree roots hurt??

Ok, If our Big men stay in the game and play well we win. we match the speed Memphis has and our edge is inside IMO

Memphis is a full press team so expect that.... If there is a team (all 65) that presses more than Memphis in the tournament, I would be surprised. Many 'experts' comment on Memphis and haven't watched one game all year. Dick Vitale confessed that last night and said his 'sources' were wrong about the Tigers. We may play in a watered down conference, but we tried to schedule teams outside of conference play that didn't quite meet their own expectations. I saw that someone posted something about the Tennessee game from back in December. I wouldn't really rely on that as any indicator of how the Buckeyes will respond to Memphis. That was one of those games where EVERYTHING goes right for your opponent and nothing goes right for you. Kind of like your first half last night......except we got 2 halves of it. I think when its all said and done, you will think (win or lose) we were your toughest opponent of the year. Mind you this is just my opinion......and I am a bit nervous about the game....but not nearly what I was going in versus Texas AM.

I'm curious as to what makes you say that. I'm assuming that you just weren't very careful with your word choice, because besides the home-court advantage, I see no way that you could make a legitimate argument that Texas A&M (27-6, with losses to, among others, Texas Tech (twice), LSU, Oklahoma St.) is a more formidable opponent than OSU (33-3).
