Ohio State 75, Florida 84 (final - NC Game)

I'm in Gville and congrats to them, but lets not forget how awesome our football and basketball teams have been. As much as I hate to admit it, they outplayed us in all three games. Hats off to the Gators.

with the effort oden gave tonight, i would like to see him take that guaranteed money. he doesn't owe anybody anything in columbus-- he has given more than we could've expected. i just don't want to see him injured before he gets to cash that first 20-30-40 million dollar check. that said if he decides to stay; i'll hold my breath for a 5 month season and hope he stays healthy and meet you guys back here ~365 days from now on the oppisite side of the score card.

A. We understand your altruism. A healed Oden with another year of experience would be something few college teams want to see. They didn't want to see it this year.

B. Don't worry. You won't be back to face us if Oden stays. And you won't be back to face us if he leaves.

C. Loyalty is a big thing in Ohio. We'll send you postcards.

I'm late on this thread and haven't bothered to read anything before it. I'm proud of the team tonight. Florida played a great game and is certainly a fine champion. I'm proud of the effort the guys gave tonight. It sucks how things turned out but I know Thad and crew did everything they could tonight.

hardly. sure the loss stings, but only one other program can claim better football and basketball seasons. i'd rather see my team have a shot at a national championship and lose than have no opportunity at all. though fans may ridicule ohio state for losing both national championship games, the fact is that all but one other program wish that they were in our shoes. given the outlook for our two programs, these wishes aren't likely to end anytime soon.

Nope. Not at all. I'm incredibly proud of the way we played, and of the fact that we made it that far with so much youth.

Not when you consider the alternative of not playing for the NC at all.
Thanks for the prop

The great thing about Ohio State is that we wil be back. Thats a guarantee. Florida is going in the crapper after this season in both sports. I give credit where credit is due, they won both of those national title games. I may have some bitching to do about some of the things within each game but they won, I wont deny them that.

The difference is that Jim Tressel is going absolutely nowhere and everyone knows it. It has become a sore spot for opponents of OSU's football program because most schools will not be able to compete on a year by year basis.

Now, the same thing is holding true for basketball opponents. Thad Matta is building a dynasty and we arent going away. Other schools can bitch and moan all they want to but most of the whining is going to come from schools that just cant compete annually.

Take pride in your Buckeyes! They had an outstanding year and were so close to perfection. It hurts because we could see it and not get it but at least we were within sight of both of them. Our coaches and University will keep going because thats what they do. Our young men will carry on and we will support them in anything they decide and how they perserviere because thats what we do at the Buckeye Planet. We have the greatest University with the greatest fans bar none! The sun will come up tomorrow and we will still be Buckeyes. No other fans can say that.

that's simply not true. though the basketball team will take a hit if donovan leaves, the program will still be strong. sorry, bestbuck, but to claim that the football team is "going in the crapper" is astoundingly absurd. i agree with the rest of your message. i cannot, however, agree with the quoted statement.

The turning point has to be when Florida hit a 3 right after we cut it to 24-22. They go on a 9-0 run to lead 33-22 and we never recover. I firmly believe if we tie it at 24 or take the lead it's back and forth the rest of the way with us having a great chance at winning. I'm incredibly proud of them though. :osu:

No one on this board has said Oden "owes" Ohio State anything. He has already done so much for this program and we are thankful to him for that. Of course, for selfish reasons, most fans want him to stay but they are also understanding if he decides to make the jump to the NBA.

Question: Were you saying the same thing to Noah, Horford, and the others after last year?

Congrats Bucks!

Two points:

1. The analysis of the game will look at lots of factors, but simply put we made 30 field goals Fla made 26. They were 55% from 3 pt range, we shot 18%. Game over. They were amazing behind the arc. We were ice cold. (Butler WTF?)

2. As far as Oden goes, I usually defend players who go early. In Oden's case, one more year would be great, not just for fans, but for Oden. Center's tend to have the longest careers in the NBA. They make the most money of any postition currently. What dollar amount would Oden place on getting back his sophmore year, and a sure title, playing with his best friend at age 19? Staying would be a decision he would never regret.
