Ohio State 75, Florida 84 (final - NC Game)

I take pride in knowing my Buckeyes made them leave skin on the floor. We made them play their hearts out. This wasn't like the UCLA game. We forced them to counter us. We always had that threat like we could come back. They did well stopping it.

I just wish it was the Ohio State guys putting the skin on the floor to get the ball.

It's not that Ohio State wasn't hustling, but Florida certainly had a step.

Hey it's ok man....only 2 teams got to play for the football and basketball National championships this year.

sure the results could've been better (a lot better in the football game), but just getting there is 90% of the battle anymore.

what these two teams did probably won't ever be replicated. It's not exactly fun to lose to the same team in both sports, but it isn't like someone else beat Ohio State to stop the matchup from happening.

:oh:

oh yeah and wifey and baby are doing great after a little rocky patch there a couple weeks ago

thank u ODEN for playing for OSU and being the only BUCKEYE that showed up today and you abused that ugly ass Noah whose father has to go down in history being the only millionaire with such a ugly kid.

Noah your stock has dropped bigtime after being abused.

Horford was a man today. Lottery pick

Proud of the buckeyes no matter what and florida looked awesome and those 3's were killing me. No matter what team the buckeyes play it seems its 3 day all day long against them.

another 2nd place :(

Why be angry? I know I was yelling about a few fouls I feel weren't called, but why should you be angry? Florida was a better team, and Ohio State cemented itself as being the team second only to a back-to-back championship squad. As freshmen. And Ron Lewis . If these guys accomplish this much as freshmen, imagine what they can accomplish next year...

I was angry because of all the hate talk people have given Ohio State over on the ESPN messageboard and all the lack of respect this team got the entire season. I was just mad to see a team like Florida, with the fan base that they have, win.

well, it wasn't the result that i wanted, but quite honestly, it was better than i expected. we were as cold as i can remember from the perimeter, and they were unconscious. our season average from 3 was 37%. we hit 17%. double that to 34% (make 4 more) and we win. factor in TWO Oden blocks that found their way into Green and Humphrey's hands for wide open threes, and they are fouling US in the final two minutes.

it was a great game. we played our fucking asses off, but we've got NOTHING to hang our heads about. we went toe to toe with the best college basketball team in the last 15 years WITH FOUR FRESHMAN, even though we were terrible from beyond the arc.

I AM SO PROUD OF THESE KIDS!
THANK YOU, Thad Mata!
THANK YOU, Ivan Harris!
THANK YOU, Ron Lewis!
THANK YOU, Jamar Butler!
THANK YOU, Mike Conley!
THANK YOU, Greg Oden!
THANK YOU, David Lighty!
THANK YOU, Othello Hunter!
THANK YOU, Daquan Cook!
THANK YOU, Matt Terwilliger!
THANK YOU, to anyone i just forgot...

you guys just did what no Ohio State fan that was born in the last 45 years has ever seen just by making it to the title game!

(BTW, THANK YOU, Andy Geiger for getting Matta!)

IT'S GREAT TO BE AN
OHIO STATE BUCKEYE!!!

there was not this "lack of respect" this season. give me a break. the bucks were almost unanimously ranked as the top team for a decent portion of the season. the team was also ranked very high in the preseason polls. the team received a lot of positive press. oden was selected as a first team all-american. conley is regarded as one of the best point guards--if not the best. matta is widely regarded as the best recruiter and one of the best coaches.

sure, some members of the media doubted the team and took shots at them. a team at the top always has doubters. even florida was doubted during the season. however, you can't compare the press that ohio state received to the press that florida received. the gators returned virtually their whole team from a national championship year. they deserved to be considered by pretty much everyone to be the odds-on favorite to hold the trophy.

as far as not liking what you're reading on other message boards, it's simple. don't go there.

this was a great season. the best part is that this was just a taste of what is to come. we're on only the first hill of this roller coaster. all i can hear is the clickety-clack of the chain pulling us skyward. get ready for a wild ride.

To my beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.

Thank you Thad Matta for coming to our university and making our school a force in basketball along with all the other sports.

And thank you recruits, the 2006-2007 tOSU Buckeye basketball team. You did more than any of us expected or could have hoped. I could never look back upon any regret for you made Buckeye basketball as exciting as Buckeye football and that's I could ever hope for.

To a Florida team and it's fans, congratulations, as I have said, you have made a spot in history that will never be forgotten. And though it has hurt to be on the receiving end of your success, it's deserved. I may hate the fact that you beat my Buckeyes, but should the draft grant you to a team I support, I will root for you the same. You are kids, and you have shown you have the souls of warriors, and that I can respect, no matter how much it sucks that your warriors drove their dagger into my heart.

To my friends here on BP, Tomorrow is a new day, and I will dawn my tOSU sweatshirt when I walk into the office tomorrow, proud as can be to be an Ohioan, we have another Final 4 banner and a bright future to look forward to. TM + JT = Everything to look forward to as a Buckeye.

Night folks.

If the chain is pulling us up, that means we'll be falling soon.

I think we just bottomed out after a big drop. We were really high up, the game was that downslope, and now we have a ton of momentum heading into the next season. Let's see how high that momentum will take us.

I just want to thank the Basketball Buckeyes for keeping my mind occupied after that terrible defeat in Glendale, AZ. And if we have to lose a NC, the expression on Odens face at the end of the game is what I want to see---Anger as opposed to happy-go-lucky.

The only thing there was to be angry about was that their shots kept going in and unfortunately ours didn't. I can honestly say I'm not the least bit upset about that loss, the polar opposite of the BCS game. Those kids went out there and left everything they had on the court. The best thing was that despite seemingly everything UF put up going in, they never quit and kept in the game. A lot of teams would have wilted and lost by 20, hell 30 points. I'm incredibly impressed with how poised those Freshman were. They played like they had been there before, and I guess in some ways they had been.

Looking forward, I take a little comfort in Conley saying he intends to return. I'd want no one else leading a team next winter. He is AMAZING. With the way Oden has played, and especially tonight, I'm not too optimistic in his return. I hope he keeps his word and comes back to win a title, because if he does come back, we will be unstoppable next year. Thing is, he risks a lot by coming back. He is going to be a very wealthy young man come June if he goes out, and if I were advising him with his best interest in mind, I'd say go. I would think Coach Matta feels the same way. I haven't seen one player change the way a game is played like he does probably since Shaq was at LSU. Lighty is going to be a lot of fun to watch too next year. He really came on in the postseason and has the look of a future star. Hunter will be a beast too. Hopefully Cook comes back as well. I just don't think it's in his best interest to test the draft this year. He's incredibly talented, but still quite raw.

Like I said earlier...it was a hell of a year. 35-4(!!!), 15-1 in the Big-10(!!!), regular season and tournament champs and a National Championship game all in their first year. There are more good times ahead.
