Ohio State 68, Purdue 75 (Final)

This result makes me happy ...we needed a win like this after blowing the MSU game at the end at their place. Reading some of the previous posts it seems that a few people underestimated our team...yes they are young and there will probably be more inconsistency this year, but they are talented. Our teams are very similar. We'll see ya at the end of the season, I expect you guys to take the game at your place.

Terrible officiating for sure, but we put up a lot of bad shots in the second half. I would like to have seen them drive it in the paint a lot more. The players failed to get it done.

Agreed

watching this team is a bit frustrating at times, gotta remind myself sometimes that this isint the same team as last year

Give them time. They will be a least a sweet sixteen time by tournament time. There is a ton of raw talent on this team.

David Lighty, center, drives against Purdue's Keaton Grant. Lighty made only 2 of 12 shots from the field and fouled out.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Jamar Butler did it almost by himself at Illinois. But less than a week after losing 10 pounds because of a stomach flu, and dogged by defenders who challenged his every step, he needed more help from his teammates yesterday.
He didn't get it.
The point guard scored 26 points but didn't have a basket in the final eight minutes, and Purdue came back to beat Ohio State 75-68 in Mackey Arena, ending the Buckeyes' 19-game winning streak against Big Ten teams.

Purdue snaps Buckeyes' Big Ten winning streak

Marcus Green becomes first Purdue player to score 20 or more points this season.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? Marcus Green has focused on doing the little things for Purdue all season.
He saved the big things for Ohio State.

Green scored 22 points, and his Boilermakers beat the Buckeyes 75-68 on Saturday afternoon to end Ohio State's 19-game Big Ten winning streak.
It was Green's first double-figures scoring game of the season, and he fell one point short of his career high. He fouled out with one minute to play and got a standing ovation as he left the court.
"I always feel like Mackey Arena has always been in my corner," he said. "It felt good to have the support, but more importantly, it felt good to get the win."

It must have been pretty bad when the guys on the radio are bitching about the officials! And I don't mean a little. The conference really needs to do something about this. And it's not just in basketball....

I only watched the last 10 -15 minutes (game time, not real time) and found the officiating to be pretty bad indeed. How Hunter sets a perfectly legit screen and ends up getting not only the PF for it but T'd up for it too is beyond me. But.... hats off to Purdue. They needed a game like this. They're a pretty young and talented bunch who needed to learn how to win the close one. They stepped up. Officials didn't make them hit their shots, nor did they influence the Buckeyes missing theirs.

And PJ Hill, in the last minute. Freaking stud.

The ups and downs are going to be the theme of the season...This was a game we should of won, but didn't finish it...We continue to see good things from the frosh, and then we see them go back to their old selfs and do some sloppy things...

Butler has done a solid job of leading the team, but at times he starts to force when other guys are doing sloppy things...He just needs to play with in himself and he will be fine, and we need Lighty to step up his play to really help Butler in the scoring department...

On to MSU which is going to be a tough game for us, especially with them coming off a lose...

I know this has been stated but the officiating was bad. The illegal pick call on hunter was unreal. It was an entertaining game to watch up untill it was sealed for Purdue..... very physical, if any of our freshman had any doubts about what the big ten season was going to be like that game cleared things up.

Big Ten officials have always had a problem with a disproportionate number of calls in favor of the home team. You'll see it in favor of the Buckeyes in the Schott as well.

It seems to me as if the officials are influenced by the students. It's one thing if the visiting coach is all over you. But the students boo at every call. And the officials let it affect them. It's sad really and the Big Ten needs to do something about it. The officials have to be more objective and have thicker skin.

One of the worst called games I've seen in a while. But it's part of a disturbing trend.
