Ohio State 67, #7 Notre Dame 62 (final)

Regardless of wether Luke plays or not......Notre Dame is a very good team......another test for this young tOSU squad.........ND has the ability to score from outside and inside.........our perimeter defense will be key in this one...........

I think this team will play with confidence and intensity...........

I hate to say it because I am always pretty confident, but this could be a step in the wrong direction for us...I just hope that if we do lose and we do get beat handly that we take it in stride and learn from it, but with being such a young team, we can't allow that to effect our confidence...

With that said, I do believe that we can win the game, just that ND is a tough match for us...All they want to do is fire from the outside and pound it down low...The worst team to play when your main defense is a zone...They are going to get open looks, it is just the fact, and then with the long shots they are going to get offensive rebounds, and with only 1 big guy, they are going to be able to take an advantage of their post offense...

We are going to need to play very good offensively, and do a good job on the glass...

This will be another early season test, and hopefully a confidence builder and a learning tool no matter the outcome...

OSU men's basketball: Ayers will try to beat team his dad coached

Notre Dame senior Ryan Ayers picked up his offensive game during the past week, twice setting career highs in points.

As a child, Ryan Ayers dreamed of suiting up in scarlet and gray one day. On Saturday, he'll spend the afternoon trying to beat Ohio State.
Ayers, son of former Buckeyes men's basketball coach Randy Ayers, is a starting senior guard for Notre Dame. The seventh-ranked Fighting Irish play the Buckeyes in the Hartford Hall of Fame Showcase in Indianapolis.
"It'll be cool to see those scarlet-and-gray uniforms," Ayers said.
When his father coached the Buckeyes from 1989 to '97, Ayers served as a ball boy and was a regular around the program.
"I was always lingering around the locker room," he said, "running through the training room at practice, rebounding for the guys shooting free throws, sitting on the sideline trying to keep quiet. Being in that environment was pretty cool. I knew everybody from those teams. I idolized those guys.
"I wanted to be like Jimmy Jackson. I wanted to be like Chris Jent."

Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said Thursday he doesn't want reigning Big East player of the year forward Luke Harangody to rush back from a bout with pneumonia and told him he wants him to be ready to go by the Big East opener New Year's Eve at DePaul.
"That's the worst-case scenario," Brey said, "but we're going to be really cautious."

Harangody took shots and lifted weights Thursday and might participate in practice Friday, Brey said, but the coach is planning to keep him out Saturday against Ohio State at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Irish played the last two games, wins over Furman and South Dakota, without Harangody.

Men's Basketball
Buckeyes Stepping up Competition Level One More Notch
By John Porentas

The Fighting Irish may have fallen onto hard times on the gridiron of late, but their basketball program is just fine thank you.
The young OSU Buckeyes (4-0) are going to find just how good Notre Dame is on Saturday, and in the process find out just how good they are themselves when they tangle with the No. 7 Irish (6-1) in Indianapolis.
Notre Dame's six wins this season are headlined by a one-point win over eighth-ranked Texas and five wins over teams that will not see the light of day as far as the rankings go. Their lone loss was a 102-87 clubbing at the hands of No. 1 North Carolina which is actually nothing to be ashamed of. North Carolina has clubbed everybody this season and is likely to continue doing so for the foreseeable future.

Very excited about this game. We're definetly going to need Lauderdale to be strong and get some rebounds. Also, they don't miss much and they will score, so we need to light up the scoreboard too. Should be a great game and go bucks!

We need to rebound their missed three-point shots of of our damn:( zone defense. It is not up to Dallas or BJ to get those long rebounds. The entire team needs to rebound when one of those shots goes up from the outside.
