But when its getting beaten as bad as it was against Iowa, you have to make adjustments. Was Thad really so worried that KK couldn't hold Loopy down in the post that he was willing to give up open 3's to a hot shooter? I am sure he was preaching getting out on the shooter for most of the game, but at some point he has to realize it wasn't happening and make some kind of adjustment.
If Butler really is getting that worn down, then you have to start giving PJ Hill minutes. I don't care if we aren't as effecient on offense with him in there, we aren't going to do shit in the postseason if we don't have a somewhat fresh Butler. I realize PJ can't shoot like Jamar can, but he gets to the hoop better than Jamar and I think its just a different offense when he is in, not necessarily an ineffective one. Butler can't play 40 minutes a game AND carry the team on his back the last 3 or 4 minutes when no one else is making a shot, you gotta get him some rest, even if its only 4 or 5 minutes a game.
Lastly, I don't think anyone here would label Jamar a "true pg." He is a 2 guard with a decent handle who is forced into a position because of a complete and utter lack of depth at that position. He doesn't have the anticipation skills or driving ability that defines a true PG. But he is still the leading scorer and best player on the team.
PJ played great in the closing minutes of the first half against Michigan State. He made solid decisions and played great defense. He helped spark that 8-0 run to close the half.
I'm not sure why he hasn't played in the last two games.....maybe he isn't getting it done in practice. I remember him coming in in the first half of the Minnesota (or maybe the Illinois) game and he didn't look as hot. Hopefully we will get 6-10 minutes of the PJ Hill that played against MSU. I think Thad learned his lesson against Iowa ......... you can give up a few minutes of JB in the first half and early in the second half to have a 100% JB in the closing minutes.
Its 6:51 pm and Michigan sucks.
