Game preview
NORTHWESTERN AT OHIO STATE
Noon today
? Where: Value City Arena.
? TV: Big Ten Network.
? Radio: WBNS-AM (1460).
? Records: Ohio State 10-3, 1-0; Northwestern 5-5, 0-1.
? Matchup to watch: Ohio State has a decided size advantage inside, so expect Northwestern to sag its zone defense around Kosta Koufos and Othello Hunter, keep a close eye on Jamar Butler and challenge everyone else to make three-point shots. Butler was 4 of 7 outside the arc at Illinois on Thursday, everyone else 3 of 15.
? Noteworthy: Ohio State has won 15 consecutive games against Northwestern and 27 in a row in Columbus since 1977. . . . Jamar Butler's 32 points at Illinois were the most by an OSU player since Brent Darby had 35 against Duke in 2002. Butler's 15 consecutive points in the game were the most since Michael Redd scored 17 in a row at Wisconsin in 1999. ... Northwestern lost its Big Ten opener at home Wednesday, 79-68 to Penn State. . . . Kevin Coble, the Wildcats' top scorer and rebounder last season, played his first game Wednesday after missing nine games to be with his mother during her chemotherapy for breast cancer.
? Next up: Iowa, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Value City Arena.
