Ohio State 62, Northwestern 51 (Final)

Wow. Follows a 32 point game with zero points. But, it sounds like he was still a key contributor. It's nice to know that other people can step up offensively in Big Ten play.

Just got back from the game. My thoughts from the game:

1. LOVE the production we're getting from Deibler and Turner. What a difference a few weeks can make.

2. Hunter's few points came in very dramatic fashion. He had some awesome oops tonight.

3. We actually far out rebounded our competition today. Even though it was just NU, it was good to see.

Looks like Butler just couldn't buy a shot. What was up with that? Tough defense or what?
He was playing the point guard role so much he couldn't hit his butt with either hand. DD in assists and rebounds though , he was playing the team game.

Man, could've had the triple-double. Has he done that before?

I don't remember him even taking that many shots or even looking for them. He was trying to run the offense thru the other players. I do remember at one time they showed the freshmen outscoring the older guys something like 39 - 9
Hunter had his game in the second half, didn't score in the first, Turner played well, over ten points, He is going to be a stud. Deibs not to well on shooting but looked smoother in everything else.
we had well over 20 to's too. THat part of the game blew. afterward Matta told Bill its all mental and these kids have to learn it

Northwestern was about the easiest opponent we'll have for a while. Wonder if Matta didn't see a few warning bells going off in the one-man show in the last half against Illinois and put some pressure on others to put their hands up? He did take seven shots and it wouldn't explain why he missed them all, but I still wonder if there wasn't some strategy behind this as well.

You know as well as I do that Butler has never been totally consistant from game to game, partly I think because of the different roles he has been thrust into but today he wasn't on. Now Matta may have told him to distribute the ball more and that could account for that, but what hurt us the most was the To's -
terrible. Nw does play the scrappy trapping so well too.

That's what I'm figuring. I'd say 3 or 4 (maybe even 5) of his shots came in the last 5 minutes of the game. It wasn't so much a matter of not getting open looks as not taking open looks. I don't know why he wouldn't be shooting unless it was at the directive of the staff.
