I'll add one thing. Get loud while PSU is IN THE HUDDLE. Nothing worse than when you can't hear in the huddle, and you have to say...what? What? Or you screw up the snap count, or play. Trust me...it's a good time to be loud. Also...follow the players leads. When somebody on defense tells you to get loud...GET LOUD!!!! When somebody on offense tells you to get loud...GET LOUD!!! Pryor has done it a few times! But when the offense tells you to shut up...SHUT UP!!!JT and the team are looking for the crowd to help them win this game on Saturday. So wear scarlet and wave the towels. But more importantly, during the game get loud and stay loud, and get loud at the proper times. Most of us understand this, but some may not, so allow me to explain.
Go ahead and yell whenever TP or Beanie break off a 20-yard run, and whenever tOSU scores or gets a turnover. High five your friends and neighbors. That excitement is great and adds to the atmosphere in the 'Shoe.
But to really help the team, yell every time the Penn State offense approaches the line of scrimmage, and keep yelling until the ball is snapped. That is how the home team disrupts the other offense from hearing the QB, and from hearing their center call out blocking assignments and blitz pick-ups. It can lead to false starts, missed blocking assignments (and maybe a sack), and their QB and receivers not being on the same page (and maybe an interception).
How should you be loud? Personally, if there's no organized cheer at the time, I like to yell 'DEEEEEEEEEEE' for several seconds at a time - for me it's logical and about the most noise I can make over a period of several seconds. And after I run out of breath before the ball is snapped, I yell it again.
Conversely, when the Bucks have the ball, you can cheer between plays, but once tOSU gets lined up on offense, calm down so our offense can communicate. Plus, that saves your voice for when Penn State is on offense.
So if you're lucky enough to be at the game, have fun, and be loud. But be as loud as you can be every time that PSU is getting ready to snap the football, not just on third down when the bell is rung. That's what JT and team really want when they are asking the crowd to help them.
And after tOSU wins the game, be proud that you helped - and then rest up your voice for The Game.
Go Bucks!
To get loud, I clap my hands (I never wear gloves to a game, no matter how cold, because 1) gloves aren't as loud when clapping and 2) gloves are for women) and I scream "OOOOOOOOOO!" It's just about the loudest noise I can make. There are a few games, where I will just start yelling obscenities like, "SHIT! FUCK! COCKSUCKER! FUCK!" It's fun because sometimes it gets so loud that I can't even hear the words, nor can anybody else around me. Now that's the best. The last time I was able to do that without hearing myself was the PSU game in 2002. So I hope it gets that loud again. 10B will be doing it's part. I will make sure of it. Will you make sure that your section is too? Every section needs a leader! I'll start a few, "Let's Go Bucks!" cheers before the game. It is pretty easy, I always get at least a few thousand people to join in, and sometimes the whole stadium. People love the, "Let's Go Bucks!" cheer when it's quiet.
