Ohio State 59 vs Samford 22 Final

How did Lauderdale and Mullens look playing together...I was out in the hallway at the game yesterday when they were in together...

Owned the paint. Of course we sort of did that when they were in individually as well. The bonus was seeing Mullens run at the perimeter shooter and him shrink into a ball instead of trying to shoot it. LOL

The two of them really were not in that long together and they really did nothing that stood out in my mind. I did not even recognize a set offense for both of them while there were in the game together. Same on defense really.

For anyone at the game, when they did the "Get to know a Buckeye" segment about what animal each player would like to be, did I hear Lighty say he wanted to be a Liger?

Uh oh, the subs in and moving up and down. If we score 20 we win. Samford looks inept on offense.

Wrong. We would've needed at LEAST 23 to win.

I watched from start to finish and as good as the outcome looked defensively (allowing only 22 points), I still see a lot of ther same problems with this team as I did with last year's team.

They are so stagnant on offense. Everyone camps out @ the 3 point line and there is no rebounding. Top that off with Lighty playing the 4. Come conference play, they will get killed on the glass. Prepare for a lot of easy 2nd chance points, just like last year.

Where is the scoring going to come from? Turner and Lighty attempt to turn it up a notch but whenever they do, they just force things and turn it over or put up some horrid shots. Buford may be the only one that can create his own shot when things break down. They don't have a go-to-guy to take the big shot. (Diebler looks like he may be ready to take the next step. He's letting it go with confidence early on)

Mullens doesn't look like he's going to dominate early on like a lot of people thought he was (including myself). Lauderdale has been a pleasant surprise (love his intensity and attitude), but he still has a lot of raw in him and as the talent they face gets better, you're probably not going to get 5 blocks, 8-10 boards and 10 plus points from him.

Their guards are very athletic so they need to start dictating tempo, especially against teams that have less talent. I love that fact that the defensive intensity stayed solid throughout, but even a lot of that was due to a poor opponent. They were able to break down OSU's defense quite a few times early in the 2nd half, they just couldn't put it in the bucket. BG exploited the middle of their defense, shredded the zone, especially in the 2nd half.

The season looks promising. I think the Bucks can win 3-4 more games this year based on their athleticism alone. 3rd-4th in the big 10, 6-7 seed in the tourney and a 2nd-3rd round NCAA tourney exit would be a good season for this team. Hoping it will be even better than that, GO BUCKS
