Ohio State 53 Indiana 59 (Final)

Most disappointing part of this game to me was the failure to capitalize when they got IU into foul trouble. Too content to chuck up 3s instead of continuing to drive and pound it inside and extend the game by scoring from the line.

Hell, that wraps up a lot of our losses, so frustrating. Wish we could shoot free throws like IU

we are right there close to being great in the big ten, close losses are all thats holding us back. we need a couple wins and others to lose and we're right there. hopefully we can make a run in the b10 tourney. not too bad of a loss though, a couple runs silenced, but thats about it. nice to see koufos and deibs step up. if they can continue to keep that up, this team has real potential to accomplish great things. keep it up guys!

Our halfcourt offense too often ends up being a few perimeter passes and launch a three. It's tough to watch at times.

I'd rather see us push the tempo more but when Thad's only going 7 deep and Butler plays 40 minutes every game that's not going to happen.

I don't think it can be overstated how much this team misses Conley. Butler has played great this year but he has never had the slashing ability and feel with the ball in traffic down low that Conley showed last year. His ability to take anyone and everyone off the dribble last year and finish in traffic or get the ball back out to open shooters on the perimiter is the biggest thing missing this season.

Showed today with so much perimiter passing and the inability to create any inside out offense. This team still has a chance to make a strong statement to the committee for an at large bid but the clock is definately ticking and it is going to require some strong play against a tough schedule down the stretch. Thad will have them ready for the stretch run and will certainly learn from today.

This team doesn't miss Conley, some of you guys do. The team knows it can't live in the past. They also know they have to learn to play and winwith the players they have.
Get over it. Conley isn't here any more and won't be.

That possession where Koufos passed up the wide open shot and Diebler traveled was a real kick in the balls. Lighty has been a real disappointment this year. I thought his offensive game would be much better than this. Oh, well. The season's not over yet!

I'd prefer a win, but it is encouraging to see the light flicker on for KK & Jon, even if it flickers off occasionally.

So basically your response is 'shut up and stop whining' rather than an actual rebuttal. His point was a very valid one, whether you like hearing it or not.

Simply put, Conley's penetration & ability to create are sorely missing this year. Settling for perimeter shots, especially with such inconsistent shooting, doesn't get it done.

They held IU on the defensive end, but their inability to convert on offense was a long painful stretch. Were there 3 wide open airballs in the last 10 min?

The refs were in their corner a bit in the second half, I wish they had capitalized on this inside more.

A few thoughts

Not a whole lot to say about this game. I thought that we did not play with much intensity in the first half. It almost looked like we had played a double overtime game on the road Thursday instead of Sampson's boys. I just thought that we did not play very tough or with much intensity and it almost seemed like guys were afraid to take open shots and then when the clock began to run down there were forced to take contested shots.

I thought we played much better in the second half showing more intensity on the defensive end and rebounding the ball. KK finally showed a little toughness. The open shots would just not fall when we would get within 4 points after the 5 minute mark.

I thought that Butler looked tired but we don't have anybody else to put it for him. He played well on defense but his shots would just not fall. Again, I think it was because he is getting tired. Maybe it is something else. I don't know.

Turner at times seems to force the issue and I wish he would have tried to take it to the basket a little more rather than settling for the three-pointer.

I have no idea what is wrong with Lighty. He hardly played at all in the second half and I don't know if it was because Matta was disappointed with his play or because he was slightly injured. It seemed odd. His free-throw shooting this year seems to be extremely poor for whatever reason.

I wished the team would have pushed the ball more quickly up court once they got it. I also would have liked to see them press a little heavier because I do not think that Indiana has that good of ball handlers.

When the game first started, we should have been right in the face of Gordon and let him try to beat the defender off the dribble rather than giving him room to shoot a three. I also wish we would have been more physical with DJ. A couple hard fouls would have been nice to see.

It was disappointing and needless to say we will have our work cut out for us to make it to the dance.

I don't know if KK would have taken that three-pointer and missed it we would probably all be on his case for taking that shot but you are right that possession was a big one.

If those two continued to play the rest of the season like they have in the past few games, I think that we will be fine when it comes tournament time but they have to continue to improve for us to get there.
