I really am having a hard time trying to understand you. Butler "called out the team" so I guess that means he needs to put 20 points up in every game he plays. What's the big difference in saying something to the media or calling a team meeting and let everyone speculate what has been said. How many guys have put in the minutes that Butler has with no rest. I don't know why they offered Hill a scholarship. That's a question you will have to ask Matta. He hasn't shown me anything this season except just to dribble around the perimeter on offense. If Butler isn't in the game, there is no guidance at all. See my post in the Butler thread on what Kellogg said about Butler. Take that for what it is worth unless you know more about basketball than Clark.
Not sure what is so hard to understand...But I will give you the cliff notes version of my feelings...
- He is the leader, he was playing well going about his business, he didn't need to separate the team with his comments...He didn't say us, we, etc, he said they, making him out to be superior to the rest of the team...
- Now they have stepped up, and no I don't believe it has anything to do with Butler's comments I believe it just has to do with freshmen ups and downs...
- You have never seen me put down Jamar's play, just upsetting that he was the one that looked to be unassertive on Sunday...He had shots open, he didn't try and create, the couple times he took his jumper off the bounce he made it and those were his only 4 points...
- I understand the tired comments, but a senior leader that has basically said he is the best player on the team and in one of our biggest games of the season lays an egg...He has been thru this for 4 years, we hadn't played since Tuesday he had 5 days of rest...I just don't see the reason for total exhaustion in this game...Hell Indiana guys just went double OT on the road and then had to fly home and then to Columbus and they didn't look tired...
I truly believe and maybe I am wrong in my assumption, but if Matta truly believed that Butler was as tired as people are making him out to be then he would go to PJ Hill, and you cannot tell me that PJ if given 10 minutes in this game would of been as bad as what Jamar played...
He just hasn't been looking to take the big shot, make the big play, just don't understand it...For a kid that acts like he truly wants to win more than anything with his comments, his actions weren't showing Sunday IMHO...
