Game Thread Ohio State 37, Penn State 17 (final)

He passed Bear Bryant against the Bucks with a team that was likely extra motivated.
They have immortalized a freaking railing from the 05 game, you better believe they will be up for this game.

This is the ONLY thing that worries me.. PSU considers us there biggest rival and as such, should play out of their minds. We need to get up early and squash any ideas they had, and force Tressel Ball down their throats.

Buckeyes win 28-7

From the State Penn Daily Collegian:

Collegian Staff Writer

For the No. 1-ranked team in the country, Ohio State's personality is about as dreary as yesterday's weather. There's no Troy Smith, no shot-Ginn offense or any significant controversy involving sketchy booster transactions. The Buckeyes are rebuilding with first-year starting quarterback Todd Boeckman and running back Beanie Wells, who travels the Midwest relatively under the radar when compared to other Big Ten ball carriers....

... the Buckeyes defeated the teams they were supposed to, an achievement that's been tougher for every other perceived elite juggernaut, Penn State included.

This is the first time I have seen this year's edition of the Nit Lion football team referred to as a "perceived elite juggernaut." The term "legends in their own minds" may be appropriate ...

One of the few nice guys we ran into at the '05 game asked my buddies' brothers (who were from Dublin) what the feeling was like back in Columbus, because people in the State College area have been going nuts all week. The guy from Dublin looked at him and said "It's not that big of a deal, it's just Penn State."

That would be 5,000 times funnier if we had actually won that game :smash:
but it's still pretty funny.

Apologies if this has already been covered, but how important are these guys?

Matt Hahn is a punishing lead blocker that was also a good pass-catcher and took 2-3 meaningful carries a game. Without him PSU fans are expecting their run-game to take a significant hit. Jared Odrick is one of their better D-linemen, so without him they might not be able to put as much pressure on Boeckman as they would have been able to.

maybe he should use one of those lawn and leaf trash bags.

You mean one similar to what you take your lunch to work in every day, chubby?

Shouldn't you be off criticizing Thump's spelling and grammar somewhere?

i just dont see psu winning unless osu melts down....nothing about this game really scares me....the crowd is big and loud but other than that...osu is better at most positions

Pretty much how I feel as well.

Also keep in mind, if the unforseen should occur and PSU jump out to an early lead, they will usually get ultra conservative on offense and give us a chance to get back in the game. No need to panic.

The Game Preview is posted and will answer that question, but rocketman has already answered this. The FB Hahn and DT Odrick are significant losses. They won't determine the outcome of this game, but both players were contributors. G Mike Lucian & LB Dontey Brown were more role/backup type players and won't pose a huge loss if they can't go.

Some clown friend of mine who's a PSU fan tried to convince me they were going to win because Derrick Williams was going to abuse Malcolm Jenkins. I was amused. Derrick had 3 catches for 26 yards against Morgan Trent

Derrick is also rocking a badass 9.4 yards per catch average, yet every PSU fan says he's a "big-play threat". Amazing what one PR for TD against a D-3 team can do for your image. I find it funny that Williams has all of 4 career TD catches, pretty crappy by any "#1" WR standards, let alone a former #1 overall prospect.
