Paterno has faith in Morelli
BY DONNIE COLLINS
STAFF WRITER

10/24/2007

Many of the experts believe the biggest game in college football on Saturday may come down to which quarterback plays the best.

Well, if the biggest game of Penn State?s season ultimately does get decided by quarterback play, Joe Paterno is convinced his senior signal-caller is good enough to win.

Resurgent Nittany Lions quarterback Anthony Morelli got a typical vote of confidence ? along with what some might consider a rare heaping of coach-induced public pressure ? from Paterno on Tuesday, just four days before No. 24 Penn State?s prime-time battle against No. 1 Ohio State at Beaver Stadium on Saturday night.

?We?ve got to be able to do some things at certain times when it will be crucial that he can do it, and I think he will,? Paterno said of Morelli during his weekly press conference. ?He has gotten himself in a position now that he can do it.?

OSU players know Penn State fans will bring it

COLUMBUS Penn State is forecasting another white-out for Saturday night?s game against top-ranked Ohio State.

That represents just a fraction of what awaits the Buckeyes when they face their biggest test of the season.

Ohio State?s upperclassmen remember what greeted them during their last trip to Happy Valley in 2005.

Penn State Football: Untimely injuries for Nittany Lions
By Eric Thomas, Assistant Sports Editor
Last updated: Wednesday, October 24, 2007 2:34 AM EDT

Injures couldn?t come at a worse time for Joe Paterno?s Nittany Lions.

In the past two weeks, Paterno has watched a defensive end, starting fullback and one of his best defensive tackles all go down with season-ending lower body injuries.

Just as No. 1 Ohio State approaches.

Paterno will have to fill in the pieces if his Nittany Lions look to take down a No. 1-ranked team for the first time since 1990, when the Buckeyes travel to Happy Valley for a primetime, nationally televised showdown this coming Saturday.

Tressel almost became a member of Paterno's staff at Penn State

COLUMBUS (AP) - What's brewing today with the 2007 Ohio State Buckeyes ...
BUCKEYE BUZZ: Just to retell an oft-told tale, coach Jim Tressel came this close to coaching for Joe Paterno at Penn State.
It was December of 1974 and Tressel was finishing up his college days at Baldwin-Wallace. He was accompanied by his father, legendary B-W coach Lee Tressel, to State College for an interview with Paterno. There was a graduate assistant job on the line, and Tressel was also considering another one at Akron.
"I sent about 100 letters and I got about two callbacks," Jim Tressel said. "If I had to bet, my dad had something to do with it because, you know, he was well respected."As they drove home to Berea, Jim turned to his dad and said, "'This looks like the place for me.' And he said, 'No, it's not.' And that was it."

this team has had a few sins to atone for the last couple years:

1. the loss to texas...next year they go beat up texas
2. the 2004 loss at iowa...came back beat iowa at iowa last year
3. now it is the 2005 loss at psu..barton, boone, vern, a bunch of these kids were there..esp barton who got hurt..they are tired of hearing about the whiteout and all that shit
4. the osu linebackers...esp animal having to play second fiddle at times to conner
5. finally the national championship game..must be atoned for

i think this team is on a mission...they are focused and know the stakes...they hear what is being said about them nationally....and rain, snow, sleet, rain, whatever isn't going to matter...

i want to see conner get fucking bulldozed by wells and then blown by from saine

I'm kind of surprised you guys are worried at all. Before the Michigan game, I said Michigan wins it for two reasons; Mike Hart and Anthony Morelli. Turns out I was right. I think the same standard applies here. Ohio State wins for two reasons: Chris Wells and Anthony Morelli.

Ohio State 24
Penn State 7

I think Boeckman has one turnover in his own territory, leading to a short field for PSU. I could see 32-161-2 from Wells.
