Love to hear about Minny. I watched about half of the FAU game on the B10 network last night, and that QB you guys got is not bad at all. Nice touch on the deep ball, and was picking up some nice yards running too. Seems like a load to bring down. How big is he?

Is it a sin to keep it out of the game thread? My posts would get lost among 45 posts about Pryor etc and it would be hard to banter back and forth.

But if thats how this board works best--I am just a guest...

Pryor? Eh, he's no Weber. :p

Welcome to the board! :minn2:

That's how the elitist pr ick mods and admins like it.

I prefer the ESPN boards, myself. Much easier to navigate.

Welcome, by the way. Good luck to you guys this week.

Don't even think about comparing a Zwick-led 2004 team to this year's Pryor-led team.

I don't think overall record against a team has any affect on the outcome of this game.

That's what I said right after that. I'm just pointing out that the series record doesn't mean jack when it comes to THIS game. My point was, if overall record won us games, we would have beat Northwestern in 2004. In recent history, we have been TONS better than Minnesota. But last time I checked, that doesn't really help us in winning this game. The reason we WILL beat Minnesota has A LOT to do with Terrelle Pryor. If Justin Zwick were our QB, I wouldn't feel nearly as confident. Just clearing up any spin you put on my quote out of context.

We also have separate threads for Pryor, the offense, qb discussion, etc. Some of these run over, but I think we'll be able to hold a solid minny conversation in the game thread.

If it hampers our exchanges regarding Minnesota, we can always split it off again into a thread like this.

It is typically how we run things.

Weber is about 6'3 220 lbs. His touch needs work and he focuses on Decker a lot (in part because Decker is very good, and in part because lack of other options) but last year Weber threw 19 picks and has thrown only 1 through 4 games so far.

He is the Big Ten leader in passing yards, and completion percentage. I know the competition Minney has played is soft by anyones standards--but Weber is completing a gaudy 71% of his passes right now. 7 tds as well.

He has raised his level of play which has helped the Gophers out A LOT.

First thing we need to do is kill all the gophers

 71%?! That's a damn good completion percentage for practice. Damn. I noticed your RB was smaller than you normally go with. Do you think he'll be able to pound it all game if your air attack falters at all? How many carries does he average a game?

We followed Adam Weber some on this website, as he was recruited by Ohio State. Always came across as a good kid with solid potential. Glad to see him doing well.

What is something that Brewster or his staff have done well this year, perhaps ahead of expectations or a key adjustment from years past?

What is an area that Minnesota or the staff could do better? An area expected/hoped to be better but is a weakness?

Tell us a little bit about the parts that don't show up on sportscenter. TE, Wrs not named decker, OL, DL.
Not a lot named Decker for the WR corps. Have some great talent (Brewster brought in the #17 ranked recruiting class--rivals rating) but they are all true frosh.

At least through the non-conference season he has been the best WR in the Big Ten.

He leads in receptions (32--next closest is WR has 18), yards, and is tied for the lead in TD's. We also run the option with him (he has a rushing TD).

In fact he is 4th in the nation in yards and tied for 3rd in receptions.

Jack Simmons is our TE, and he is a solid threat over the middle but Weber is a little adverse to throwing the ball that way--maybe throwing 19 picks a year has something to do with it. We like to toss it to our backs out of the backfield, but the responsibility to stay in the game will be on Decker.

It wont be enough, but dont be surprised if he gets 100 and a TD.

RB's are ok, but not the Minney stable of a few years back. OL was in flux last two games and should be considered avg for Minney standards. Solid but not spectacular.

On defense look out for Simoni Lawrence at LB. He is a 4.4 guy who originally was slated to play at Penn State as a RB. Went JUCO and is now our WILL. He covers slot recievers and always seems to make plays on any run that stretches outside.

What else you guys want to know?

Minney doesnt have a lot to talk about after going 1-11, but myself, or any Gopher fan, will proudly go on and on about Decker, because he IS the real deal. A future sunday player.
