Game Thread Ohio State 33, Washington 14 (Final)

The tapes from last years games and the NC game have no merit over this team? I mean really... We ran a completely different offense and we kind of run a completely different defense as well.

Not to mention they don't have 3-5 good recievers, a good offensive line, and two capable QB's like Florida had? Thats like me saying well shit If Anthony Schlegal can kill a boar using just a knife then hell I can too!! What I'm missing here in this situation is that Anthony has a different skill set than me and is much larger to take on this task. Me on the other hand would either run when I saw the boar or probably most likely get gored.

So I hope Florida I mean Washington comes out and try's to play like florida because they don't have the skill set to do so and will get thoroughly gored I mean beat on saturday. You have to play YOUR game not someone elses.

Since this is a discussion forum, I would like to say I disagree with some of this, but I can't. Just wanted to give you big ups Jim Rome-style for recognizing the major difference between Washington and the only spread offense that has spliced and diced us so far, Florida's: athletes. I would be much more worried if Washington had more than a couple top 25 classes under their belts with those players still on the roster than I am right now. Currently, Washington doesn't have the athletes to run with the top half of the Pac-10 IMO, much less the athletes to compete with one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the Big Ten. The Big Ten is down, sure, but Washington is basically a team full of players who weren't good enough to make it at USC (though most arent), UCLA, Oregon, Cal or even Arizona State. They're good, but they'll only be great if they can emerge from their brutal schedule with a winning record.

Also, Washington's defense isn't a tenth of the unit Florida's was last year. And don't expect this Ohio State team to roll in fat and arrogant like they did in Glendale. I expect JT to have them ready. Washington must play crisp, mistake-free football with a lot of heart to go with it to pull of this upset. I don't see it happening, especially with a RS-Freshman QB.

Came home for lunch today and saw about 30 minutes of the Washington v. BSU game on FSN. It was essentially the 3rd Q, which I watched. Now.. I cannot come to sweeping conclusions having simply seen that little bit of football.... But... I will say this...

I was not particularly impressed with Washington in any phase of the game. Locker had trouble with 2 snaps, and there were a few busted plays. They didn't really move the ball. Locker looks like a big dude, and from what I can tell, he's going to be a good QB one day. Hell, he's good now.... but... he's still a Freshman, and he made freshman mistakes.

Defensively, they were very blockable and the secondary was just not any good. They do seem to keep things in front of them. They did not get much pressure on the QB, despite a pretty good pass rush.... they just didn't seem to come off their blocks.

Of course, anything can happen.. and, again.. it's just 1 quarter ... Still, I feel a lot better about this game than I had before.. which was still pretty good, mind you. Now, I'm thinking some of the hype they're getting is not yet deserved. Clearly better than they've been the last few years. Going in the right direction. But.. not there yet.

thought i would chime in for a second, as a dawg fan. enjoyed the analysis all week -much better than the garbage on many forums. you are definitely right about the 3rd quarter of the uw-bsu game. but the second half was very different from the first. locker looked much better first half and the play calling did as well. he'll be a heisman candidate in a couple years but is too young still. you're right on about the D. i'm worried about osu opening up the passing game. frankly it's surprising how many people nationally are hyping the dawgs. sure they are much improved, thank god, but still no where near the top of college fb. all the hype makes me even more worried about the game as the bucks will be ready for sure. as much as i'd love to predict a win, i think we'll need your qb to be rattled on the road to make it happen. more likely to take the under in this one than +4. good luck. go dawgs!

Not that I'm a big fan of CBSSportsline or Dennis "What's a football" Dodd, but when I'm all full of piss and vinegar I go over there to really get mad. So anyway I looked at thier predictions... 3-2 UW. Now though I don't see it as impossible, all these media types are really screwing over UW by hyping them. OSU had a problem with Florida partially because of the hype OSU got. To believe that OSU will come out flat when everyone I've seen outside of the Canton Repository is favoring the upset, I can't see. I see OSU coming out mad and doing some damage I'm not saying OSU will blow UW out of the water, but I do forsee them covering the 4.5 spread to say the least.

I definatly understand what you mean... When I did this survey deal on ESPN I picked OSU to win (of course) but around 55 percent said UW would beat OSU. I couldn't believe it!! If UW had one thing going for them other than home field it was that we are the higher ranking team, but thats out the window now because the majority of the country thinks we have no shot.

I sure hope the defense reads all this crap about how "oh man OSU is facing another mobile QB"... It's funny how people forget that it wasn't Tim Tebow who beat us it was Chris Leak, and he did not run the ball. I hate how we made life hell for Offenses/Qb's for the last 6 years and our defense finally has a bad game and all the sudden our defense is slow, we are from the big ten, we suck at stopping spread offenses??? Just typing this pisses me off because I can't believe how one game can drop us so low in the minds of the country. After saturday people will know our defense is for real, they'll know we have speed at every position, and most definatly they'll know Ohio State is still one of the top 3 programs in the nation.

Like I've been saying OSU-24 UW-10...

yup you're right... they've been waiting to down us ever since 2001-2002.. They did in 2004 when we had a down year and they really got on us then. I just hope our buckeyes play THEIR game on saturday.. come out and attack them and show the nation the silve bullets.

Has anybody seen Washington's injury report? Seems like they are a little beat up according to the Seattle Times blog
The Seattle Times: Husky Football Blog

CB Byron Davenport-Did not practice
RB Louis Rankin-"Not 100 percent"
LB E.J. Savannah-Injured
Right Guard Casey Bulyca-Bruised ribs against Boise State

Anybody from the Buckeyes hurt?

Wilson is the only one I can think of. Lyons, Small, and Dukes are said to be ready to go.
