Game Thread Ohio State 33, Washington 14 (Final)

I live in Seattle and the common knowledge around here is that crowd noise gives the Seahawks and Huskies about 14 points per game. They also believe Husky Stadium and Qwest Field are the noisiest places to play in all of football.

People around here continue to say how they are the best fans in football, but tommorow's game isn't even sold out and when the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl, only a few thousand fans followed them, contrast that to the Steelers who brought along like 60,000.

I think crowd noise is a factor in a fotball game, but ultimately the best team wins and that may not always be the home team. Steve Spurrier won a few times at Neyland Stadium in front of 110,000+ Volunteer fans, and we beat Texas in their backyard last year.

Lets not start believing that we are going to go up against the greatest team in the history of college football. Instead we are going up against a quarterback that is better than expected, and a team that beat Boise State.

It's no surprise to see James Laurinaitis and the Buckeyes sitting at No. 5 in the country in scoring defense (5.0 points per game), but what about Washington at No. 15 (11.0)? And instead of Youngstown State and Akron, the Huskies have done it against Boise State and at Syracuse.

I have to agree with you about Seattle fans. I'm a diehard hawks and dawgs fan myself, but most are fair weather fans. Maybe that should be our claim...greatest fair weather fans in the country! seriously though, it's as much the structure of husky stadium and qwest field as anything. husky stadium has huge over hanging bleachers that allow over 80% of the fans to be between the endzones. When the team is winning and people show up and are excited, it can be as loud as anywhere.

s dryden stated, it really doesn't matter if huskie stadium is the quiestest stadium in the history of college football. if it is loud enough to affect the bucks O, then it is plenty loud enough. granted a lot of our guys have seen reps in a lot of high pressure situations, we're still young yet. crowd noise (regardless of where it sits on the the loudest ever list) could most certainly be a factor.

and as our esteemed huskie friend has noted, atleast early in the game we can expect their fans to be plenty jacked up. if the theories are true about them being bandwagon fans.... well, whether or not they remain that way might be up to the bucks.

besides, the only thing that really matters is who corso picks. god help us if he picks the bucks...

When all is said and done the majority of the media humping the Husky's hind leg lean on Locker as the catalyst. Locker might be all world in a year or so, hell, he might be great right now given time. What I do know is that he will do not his best work on his back. If the Buckeye D can get to Locker early this game may take a very favorable turn for the visiting team.

I think what Mandel forgets is that Tressel plans his season systematically. I expect to see a much stronger offensive performance.

However, if you were to think of a distinguishing characteristic of Tressel-coached Buckeye teams, wouldn't it be that they are excellent on run defense? And, isn't that Washington's offensive thrust, the run?

Washington is a good team, but so are our Buckeyes. I still think we win by 14 or more.

This game should show us just how far the team has progressed and developed. Their win over Boise was a nice one but Syracuse just sucks.
I believe their Qb only has a couple of games under his belt where Todd has 4 years and a couple. We win.

I was thinking the same thing OB. I'll choose to read it that YSU and akron are stronger competition than Syracuse and BSU (although that wasn't the intention). At least this way it makes a bit of sense.
