Game Thread Ohio State 3, Southern Cal 35 (Sept. 13)

Sounds good.

Your DL is green, and it doesn't matter how good your LB's are if your line isnt getting a push. Trust me.

Iowa '05.

They had Greenway and Hodge at Linebacker, the best pair outside of Columbus. We rushed for over 300 yards on them.

non-sequitor: They rushed for -9 in that game.

He's approaching Desmond Howard with his level of disrespect there. I hope a chunk of the meteor that eventually hits the ND-TSUN game takes a detour into Carson Palmer.

He was referring to things that some Texas posters said...

Kind of like my words above are really just a reference to past BP conversations more than serious psychosis.

To me, it is not at all surprising that we have so few Trojan fans here as compared to Texas fans. I've lived in Southern California, and people there are not into football in general... nothing like Ohio or Texas.

Neither is it surprising that it has taken us until July 20th to hit 1000 posts in this thread. The '05 Texas thread hit 1000 posts on May 10th of that year. The '06 Texas thread hit 1000 posts on May 5th of that year.

To me, those numbers give you a pretty accurate picture of the relative (true) fan support for Texas and USC. This is not at all a slight at the good Trojan posters here. You cannot help the fact that there aren't more people like you in SoCal.
Have you been to socal? To be quit honest, until I moved to south carolina, I wasnt on the computer much! Alot to do in cali that keeps you busy, to busy to be typing on a machine. The weather is awesome! Here, its hot and humid, so I try not to go outside to much until early evening, then the state bird starts attacking me! [Thats mosquitoes} My bad! I see you lived in socal, so you know that native southern californians are a minority out there right? Go to a angel game, and there are just as many fans of the team they are playing as there are angel fans! Can you say melting pot? Point is there are more out of state fans living there than there are fans of local teams. Just like in my family, both of my parents moved out west from ohio, and me and my sister are natives, but all of my cousins are from ohio. I have family in chesapeake and proctorville ohio. Thats by huntington wv for those who dont know.:)

As for the Trojan DL, I will believe that Fili Moala can handle Sedrick Ellis' double teams when I see it. Until then, I consider him over-rated.

In other words, last year SE got all the double teams. This year, Fili has to handle them. He might. But then, he very well might not.

Yes, I lived in SoCal. That there is so much else to do is not an excuse for not following football.

NY supports their pro teams like crazy and has for a long time. There's as much to do in NY as there is in LA.

 The d-line will be fine, believe me. No more sed ellis, but not much of a dropoff. Our db's arent to awful either!

Sounds kinda like our Gholston loss. I still expect this game to be similar to Texas in 2006. Your team cries potential, but that will fade after a couple quarters. It will start off close, say 7-7 after 1, but it will be all Buckeyes for most of it. I really don't think you know how well OSU's defense is suited for your offensive style. First year QB? Ha. I like the idea of playing someone that couldn't beat Stanford.

I watch alot of football, and I can tell you look at the stats, everyone seems to like stats, and SC gets stronger as the game goes on. And, just so you know, Sanchez didnt play against stanford until late in the game! JDB played most of the game with a broken finger. Thats why alot of SC fans did get mad because the coaches left him in the game! I think your team has some potential too.

Thanks! This game has been a long time coming, and I think both teams really get a chance to be in the drivers seat for a championship run.

On the note of Sanchez not playing much of the game, I concede to not getting a full glimpse on the game. I'm positive he's got the talent to be great, but I have to say I am glad that he's inexperienced along with his protection. There are situations OSU will put them in that will make him make mistakes, and we should be able to rely on a consistent ground attack.

I dont know how the buckeyes practice, but SC plays very hard during the week, and sanchez goes full speed against a pretty good defense, so I think he will be ready to go. SC's scout team will act like they are the buckeyes. Does OSU do the same thing? Just curious. There are some teams that just practice their game and watch film.

Yeah, I always figured this thread wouldn't draw the interest that the Horns game did. Not a dig at the fine USC fans we have here, but the passion of the Horns fans and Buckeyes fans blows away USC as a whole. I was just hoping for a couple off-their-rocker guys like xrayrandy and utmnc to find their way over here. Oh well...I guess there's still a little time.

I'm really counting on the Cryami series to be comedic gold.

Yeah, very well could, but I think their fanbase falls into the same category as USC...some good diehard fans and a majority of fair weather fans. Actually, that's really unfair to USC now that I think about it. Cryami fans are probably some of th most pathetically idiotic fans in all of sports. If they are back to playing at a decent level, it could draw a good bit of interest from them. If not, I just look for a bunch of idiot flamers to laugh at.

Have you been to austin texas? I have, about 2 months ago. Nothing much there but UT, and alot of dirty book stores! Not that there is anything wrong with that! Usc fans are pretty passionate IMO, just some do not take time to get to know the game. Like I have said before, my dad was a buckeye fan, and I blame him for me becoming a SC fan! He was a LA co. sheriffs deputy, and he used to work the SC games and take me with him when I was little. So, when they played OSU in the rose bowl, I took SC just because my dad took the bucks!

Miami series should be another good one as it looks like the Canes are headed in the right direction(for now). If Pryor lives up to his hype and the recruiting classes(on both sides) live up to their hype, If.

Back to USC series. Clearly, the passion for college football in LA does not equal Texas. Nor should it by shear numbers.
