And this is why I have a problem with USC. Not the football team, as they have proven themselves, but their fans. Most of them (that I have met) are ignorant and blind when it comes to talking football. They make no solid argument to me except, "we are gonna kill you", and "the Bucks have NO chance". Please at least give me a competitive argument, do they even know who the USC's previous coach was? Not at all. They have been blessed is recent years, but stop being so damn blind to the fact that, hey, we are pretty damn good team too!

I've posted on Wearesc and I spend some time there mainly for recruiting info but I must say that the caliber of posting is pretty low. The biggest posters are mostly homers and they usually reserve a pretty rude welcome for opposing teams' posters. I hope these posters dont represent USC fans overall for you guys, cause most USC fans are alright or at least no worse than the fans of most other CFB teams.

Back to football.

As far as the comments on the underzied line, I would argue that our O Line is speedier than is has been in the past so they (hopefully) make up for lack of size with speed. As we all know, having a 385 pound O Lineman is worthless if the guy has cement feet.
That said, I completely agree that the key for the Buckeyes is to pressure Sanchez, get some bodies on him and force him to make throws he isnt accustomed to or isnt ready to make. He has all the throws so just forcing him to roll out one way or another probably wont effect him that much. The Bucks need to bring the heat so that his options are more limited than just "Oh, I can't sit back in the pocket all day. Looks like I'll roll out and throw..."

Likewise, I think the goal for the Trojans needs to be to pressure Boeckman. I think the undoing of the Buckeyes in the last two year's BCS title games was that the opposing defense put constant, unrelenting pressure on both Boeckman and Smith and neither could find a rythmn at any time in the game. Wells can carry a lot of the worlkload but Boackman will need to be sharp and can't have a repeat performance of the LSU game if the Buckeyes wants to win.

This was much more evident in the 06 game. Boeckman just should've gotten rid of the ball a couple times, so I'm hoping the 'deer in headlights' is gone before the 13th. Boeckman WILL get pressure from USC. He got nailed by YSU a couple seconds into a 3 step drop on the second drive when Hartline made a beautiful outstretched grab. That's the first game, I know, but it is something that concerns me. The key will be his quick decisions if he is pressured, same as we have been saying with Sanchez. If Boeckman can throw the ball away when he has to, we're sitting much better. Those are the kind of situations that I'm glad we have the big game experience in a guy like Boeckman.

Reminds me of a song from the 80"s, "cant touch this!"

Break it done now.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh.

Can't touch this.

Ok. What I feel is a very intriguing aspect is our WR's against USC's DB's. I feel like they are good enough to cover man, and if we can't get separation, it gives USC's LB's a chance to bring more pressure, forcing Boeckman into quick decisions and throws, possibly resulting in turnovers.

Also, I feel like tOSU's secondary at full health is good enough to cover USC's receivers man to man, which will hopefully let tOSU's LB's bring more pressure.

I have a feeling this will be the catalyst in this game, both teams can run the ball, but the receivers have not stood out substantially, IMHO, for either team, not that they aren't very good, it's just that no one has really separated themselves from the pack.

Buckeye faithful probably will be out in full force Saturday when No. 2-ranked Ohio State plays Ohio, but almost everyone around Columbus, Ohio, is talking about next week's game against top-ranked USC.

Ohio State has a game Saturday against Ohio, but all the buzz locally is about next week's game against No. 1-ranked Trojans. As fans look ahead, it's hard for players not to do the same.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The old football coach flashes a look of incredulity, wincing, like you just don't understood.

So you try again: Is the USC game really that important to Ohio State fans?

Interesting point. Robo and Hartline didnt really impress me in the game vs YState but I know what they are capable of. As for USC, the two receivers who did impress me (Rojo and Damian Williams) arent even supposed to be starting or at least werent after camp if Im not mistaken. As a USC fan, this obviously concerns me because neither Rojo or Williams are proven commodities at receiver. These guys arent Smith and Jarrett or Ginn and Gonzalez types that can basically guarantee production and if the USC receivers just shut down come the 13th, that's a serious, serious problem.
As far as tOSU, the needed production of Hartline, Robiskie et al. is pretty crucial or else USC will start covering the OSU WRs one on one and stack the box. If I were Tressell (and PC, for that matter) I would get it through my receivers head early that no matter how tough the coverage is and no matter how hard the hits come accross the middle, they HAVE to drag in some balls in the early going and show the opposing secondary that they are there to produce.
We have all seen teams whose WRs just didnt show up and these games can get UGLY, fast.

This is the reason I'm honestly expecting Ray Small to have a career game. He's got the speed, and this year he seems to have the desire. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Small were to be the most productive reciever on the field come Sept. 13th. Hopefully, he can give us Buckeyes a glimpse this week.

I am concerned about those two for the same reason. We all know that SC could get steady production from their bigger and slower WRs. But these two brings field stretching abilities that SC lacked last season, and certainly weren't shy to display them. I get the since that OSU's defense will be too physical for SC's backs to pick up decent chucks of yards, so they'll have to rely on guys like Rojo to maybe get open on a playaction.
