HOW THE hell can Gibson get an illegal contact without touching a PSU player? Why when PSU defense did the same thing did we get a false start?

Gibson was in the neutral zone, and caused the PSU player to react. The refs used the wrong terminology. On the OSU false start I don't recall PSU doing the same thing, and they certainly did not go into the neutral zone. I have no issues with the refs in this game, even the TD call and replay (not sure I agree, yet it was so close there is no way to say for sure, especially live). I think the refs did a heck of job. In fact I can't remember a game where I said "come on, holding" and the refs threw a flag every time, until this one.

The only difference between these two times was the team that was on offesne

This was such a great game by the Bucks all the way around.

Defense was of course monsterous pressuring Clark. Cam was amazing and the whole D-line played with such aggression. Our corners and safety's names were barely mentioned because they didn't give up a thing (other than the PI call on Torrence). Just a beautiful game defensively.

Special teams was very special yesterday. Thoma was solid pinning them deep. And did anyone notice that he actually had a 55 yarder once? LOL...so we know he has it in him. Couldn't have asked for more from Barclay...tough spot for the first meaningful FG of his career, but he drilled it. Didn't do a bad job kicking off either. Small was a difference maker...period. His first return set the stage for the whole game. Awesome.

Offense, I thought they did exactly what needed to be done. No mistakes...run the ball lots...and make a big play or two. Great job by Pryor staying within himself and not trying to do too much. He started off pretty shaky throwing the ball, but once he settled in a little, he looked as comfortable in the pocket as I can remember him looking all year.

Coaching was great! Wonderful job of getting a little creative without incurring too much risk. Loved the quick throws to Posey. Loved that we handed it to Ray on an end around. Thought the wildcat was a nice changeup (although would've been cool to see a guy like L Thomas run it). But overall I thought JT and company had a great gameplan.

Awesome all around performance by the Buckeyes. Now, if we can do that again next week...Iowa won't stand a chance.

My issue with it was not that it happened, but that it happened twice to OSU. Both on 4th down plays (once with USC, the otherwith PSU)

Yeah, it's over and done, but the Big Ten needs to look at this from the overall picture of it. Any 4th down at the goal line should always be looked at in my opinion...it's just too big of a play to not have time to be reviewed.

my issues was that the line judge wasn't even standing on the goal line when he made the call, he was standing at the line of scrimmage, how in the hell are you supposed to make the call whether or not the ball breaks the plane of the goal line when you are standing at the line of scrimmage?

A few post-game thoughts....

1. A lot of talk that this was Pryor's best game yet. Now, I don't know if I'd go quite that far, but he did have an excellent performance, particularly in the second half when he showed poise and a command of the offense, and made some nice decisions - a couple of the scrambles along with the TD pass to Saine and the outlet pass to Boren were good examples. Another stepping stone to that "next level" that we've all been waiting for....

2. If you read the Penn State boards, it's obvious that many Nit fans still have unrequited man crushes on Terrelle Pryor, as there is a ton of hatred that could only come from spurned lovers. Well, Nitwits, I guess that you should be happy that we're stuck with Pryor for the next two years, especially because you've got so much proven quarterback talent on your roster.

3. Question: When's the last time that an Ohio State defensive lineman had 11 tackles, 3 TFL's, and 2 sacks in one game? Answer: Last night, by Cameron Heyward. Before that, I couldn't even begin to guess, but it's probably been a while. Simply put, Cam played like a man possessed, probably by the spirit of Reggie White, because that's exacty who he looked like out there when he was pushing around the PSU offensive linemen like they were on roller blades.

4. Speaking of Heyward.... Remember that Cameron's father, Ironhead, played for Pitt, so some of that Panther hatred for Penn State must have been instilled in "little" Heyward from an early age. It sure showed last night.

5. At the beginning of the season, the conventional wisdom was that Thad Gibson would have a breakout year, become an All American, and be a first round draft pick next spring. Well, Gibson has had an outstanding campaign so far (33 tackles, 10.5 TFL's, 4 sacks, 2 FF, 2 FR), but Heyward has played at an equally high level (36 tackles, 7.5 TFL's, 5 sacks). Both Heyward and Gibson should earn All American honors this season, but since neither had a lot of preseason hype, and each is overshadowing the other right now, my guess is that neither one will get a tree in the Buckeye Grove this year. But I'm sure that they'll forget about such indignities when those seven-figure signing bonus checks come in.

6. If Ohio State beats Iowa next week, then the Buckeyes will go to the Rose Bowl. Even if Ohio State should somehow lose to Michigan in the season finale, the Buckeyes would own all of the tie-breakers with wins over the other two-loss teams (Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin).

7. If the Buckeyes win out, then they would capture their fifth straight Big Ten title, and their third outright title in four years. When was the last time that Ohio State accomplished those feats? From 1972 to 1977, the Buckeyes won six straight conference crowns ... and they won outright titles in 1954, 1955, and 1957. Which raises the following question: Is Ohio State that good, or is the Big Ten that bad? Either way, let's just enjoy it while it lasts.

8. Before last night, when was the last time that the Buckeyes beat a team ranked higher than they in the AP poll? Well, that would be November 20, 2004, when an unranked Ohio State team upset #7 Michigan, 37-21.

9. Ray Small had a couple of long punt returns yesterday, but he missed a chance at the Buckeye record books when his potential 92-yarder was derailed at the halfway point by the Penn State punter, who made a touchdown-saving tackle in the open field. I'm sure that Ray's teammamtes won't let him forget about that one any time soon....

10. The officiating was pretty lousy last night ... maybe the Big Ten picked up a few refugees from the SEC or something. Anyway, the phantom PI, the phantom touchdown, and the phantom helmet-to-helmet didn't hurt the Buckeyes in the long run, and the homers even called a couple of holding penalties against Penn State.

11. Speaking of the officiating, Michael Brewster apparently got a celebration penalty after the Buckeyes' final touchdown when he gave the Penn State fans the throat slash signal. IMHO, it was worth the 15 yards ... I just hope that he gave the sign to these cro-mags:

12. Finally, if your fans feel the need to stage an "[insert team color here] out", then you are a second class program ... and if your fans think that it's cool to wear tee-shirts mocking an opposing player who is better than anyone on your roster, then you are a third rate program. Hello, Penn State! Welcome to big time!

It was reviewed, and not in the sense every play is reviewed. Did you notice PSU kicked the extra point twice? That is because they called for a booth review just before the first kick, and we missed it while at commercial break. While at commercial, it was upheld. When we got back from commercial PSU kicked another extra point.

Call me childish, but when we stomp on the nuts of either Illinois, Penn State, or scUM, I really enjoy going over to read the comments on the corresponding Scout board, merely because I think those three schools have the most obnoxious fans in the Big Ten and I take great pleasure in their suffering. To this end, I really enjoyed this thread this morning, which was started earlier in the week to discuss Clark's legacy.

Scout.com: Clark's legacy on the line vs. Ohio State

If you start from the beginning of the thread, you'll notice that there's a lot of irrational defense of Clark going on. Not that I have a problem with Clark--I know the kid probably wanted to be a Buckeye at heart--but only one poster, NotoriousGOB, seemed to properly characterize Clark's legacy, as it stood leading up to yesterday's game, as bipolar: he played great against mediocre or poor talent, and disappeared against top talent. The other posters generally attacked him as a "Clark hater" and made all sorts of irrational arguments in Clark's defense. Now check out the last three posts, the only ones made following yesterday's game:

Can't disagree that this game did set his legacy.
