Game Thread Ohio State 23, Purdue 7 (final)

So lets hear everyones 3 things the bucks must do to win the game

1. No Turnovers

2. Avoid the big play, make them earn everything they get.

3. One of the biggest underestimated points though I think is our offense controlling the clock. What a better way to keep their offense off the field right?

Pretty simple and I agree 100%.

1) No TO's
2) Play usual defense against spread, give up yards but make them kick FG's. I would add field position is crucial vs spread O's, they simply must face the long field as much as possible.
3) Run it well.

Do those 3 things and we should be more than just ok. I still get a very '06 Iowa vibe on this one.

Basic football...

1) Offense: Get out of the gate fast, win 1st down, and win every short yardage situation

2) Defense: Sure tackling, good angles, disguise coverages with pre-snap movement, and punish the QB all day

3) Special Teams must be solid.

ESPN - Albright: Boilers ready for '07 reality test - College Football

Defensive improvement key to Boilers' season

By David Albright
ESPN.com

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.
-- Stranger things have already happened, so why can't a normally under-the-radar team like Purdue stake its claim to a piece of the national spotlight?

In the bizarro world of stomach-punch Saturdays that have left college football fans breathless from coast to coast through much of the first month of the season, where the likes of South Florida and Kentucky find themselves ranked in the top 10, it really wouldn't be all that surprising for the Boilermakers to take their swing.

If they can keep winning.

Cont'd ...

My favorite bit ...

"Just getting to a bowl game isn't good enough any more. We have to win the Big Ten and go to the national championship game."

That's right Kory Sheets! Purdue needs to aim higher. Why settle for losing the Sun Bowl, or any other lower tier bowl ... anymore? :p
