Ohio Stadium aka THE Horseshoe (Official Thread)

Is no one discussing the fact that Gene Smith said yesterday that, if/when the playoff expands and first round games are played at home stadiums, he doesn’t want to host games at the Horseshoe but would rather play in a domed stadium like in Indy (which he referred to as the “Hoosier Dome”)? Fuck that. Make southern teams come play in the cold. Make their fans come and sit in the cold. That gives us an advantage. He said if it was happening this year then he’d want CJ to be playing indoors. Well guess what? So would the opposing QB. Boo hoo hoo, if these guys have NFL aspirations then they’d better be prepared to play in the cold and snow during the playoffs. Show them how OSU will better prepare them for that. (And why we always need to have a dominant running game.)

I’m not in favor of expanding the playoff. I’m not even a fan of the playoff. But they’re going to expand it so make them pay. Don’t make it easier on them and don’t give up the advantage of playing at home. They play on artificial turf so the frozen ground (which he cites) won’t be a thing. Playing the B1G CCG in Lucas Oil Stadium is one thing. If Alabama hosts a first round game, it will be at Bryant-Denny Stadium. If OSU hosts one, it should be at the ‘Shoe. Buckeye up.

Didn’t we have fans calling the weather for The Game a “snowstorm” and complaining about the conditions and saying it would’ve been different if the conditions were better?

This is just another thing for boomers to get upset about. Smith wasn't even speaking definitively. Just that it would be a thought/consideration. Bunch of people getting their panties in a bunch about a scenario that is still probably four years away.

Wholly silly to give up a cold, home field advantage for a sterile site. Are we that soft?
