Head Coach
If Mods feel this should be put in the Open discussion go ahead, but I thought it was Ohio football so I didnt know.
I don't know if any of you follow Ohio Northern, but they are in Mount Union's division are usually their best game. They had a shot to make a run at the NC this year in their division.
I think the punishment is kind of harsh, for having practices that they werent allowed to have. I say that b/c they self-reported all of it and did what they had to do by firing the coach. I know they are going to appeal, but I don't know if they will win. It has to be crushing to these kids that play there knowing that it is maybe their last chance to be a winner. I have a friend that plays over there so I am kind of close to the situation.
Just another reason why the NCAA sucks.
Here is the article.

Ohio Northern football banned from postseason, given probation
Associated Press
<!-- begin body-content -->INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA placed Ohio Northern on two years probation on Wednesday and banned its football team from 2005 postseason competition for conducting a number of impermissible out-of-season practices under former head coach Tom Kaczkowski.
The NCAA's Division III Committee on Infractions also determined that Kaczkowski knowingly violated the association's bylaws by allowing practices during summer 2003 and then asked coaches and athletes to lie to investigators.
Kaczkowski was suspended by Ohio Northern shortly before the start of the 2003 season and later fired. He had a record of 93-79-2 in 17 years as the head coach of the Polar Bears.
Between June and mid-August 2003, Kaczkowski and one of his assistants attended and coached at "throwing sessions" attended by the quarterback and wide receivers. The coaches tracked the players who attended and contacted those who didn't.
Late in August - the week before NCAA-approved practices could begin - Kaczkowski and members of his staff oversaw and coached larger practice sessions with players broken down by position.
The violations were discovered when athletics department staffers notified the school's athletic director.
Kaczkowski said he was unaware that the practices were not permitted.
"The rules he violated are well-known, clear and unambiguous," the committee said in a public report. "The former head coach was in his position for 17 years and his contention that he somehow was unaware of these basic tenets of competition is not persuasive."
During its investigation, the NCAA also found an Ohio Northern football player and a women's golfer who had participated in their sports after their eligibility had expired.
The NCAA also issued a public reprimand and censure of Ohio Northern, which must have its athletic personnel attend NCAA compliance meetings.
