Barnett is ranked 8th, how is that considered "that low" and being "ridiculous"..

The players ranked ahead of him all have a legit argument as being being better prospects..

Can you sit there and tell me with certainty that he's a better prospect than John Simon? Melvin Fellows? Justin Turner? Storm Klein? Chris Fields?

I agree that Barnett being ranked 8th is quite acceptable. That being said, I don't think you can put Chris Fields up there in that elite group. Fields has the potential to develop into a good situational player, but honestly Devon Terrence looked better on film, and he had to earn his offer at camp, at corner. I don't see burst, wastes too much motion and time taking short steps and plays against weak competition. I also don't like a position coach campaigning for an offer when there's reservation among the rest of the staff. Wait til summer camp, what's the hurry.

Barnett is a scary combo of speed, size, and great hips. CB's like him don't grow on trees. Becasue of that, yes....I do think he is far too low.

I LOVE the guys you mentioned, but I honestly think Hall and Simon are the only guys who could give him a run at that #1 overall spot.

I still support Duane. Those are his rankings. They are based on his evaluations.

Scout and Rivals are composites and are heavily influenced by the offer lists. Even our own lists are based on what we read and our review of the videos folks point us to. If any of us tried to come up with a list solely on our own I would wager it would be quite comical.

As for the best evaluations - those come from the advisers the major programs use and we can't afford them.

1. Fellows
2. Klein
3. Carradine
4. Simon
5. Hall
6. Fields
7. Turner
8. Barnett
9. Newsome
10. Payne
11. Wood

Carradine favors us (no offer yet) and with Hall it's most likely just a matter of time. That would give us his top six, seven of his top eight, and eight of his top 11 players in the state. I don't see a major problem here.

Klein, Fields, and Turner? Yes. Fellows, Simon, and Barnett are probably the elite tier of prospects in Ohio followed fairly closely by guys like Hall, Wood, Turner, and Klein.

Based on what? I love CJ, but who here has seen game tape of him, and isnt basing the evaluation on measurables, limited highlight film, and the fact he's an early OSU commit?

Quite frankly, I dont see how anyone can come right out and claim that they know for a fact Justin Turner isnt as talented or more talented...

I dont see how they can say Storm Klein isnt every bit the LB prospect as CJ is at CB... How is CJ more of an elite prospect than Marcus Hall??

Maybe some of you have seen gametape of all these guys... i certainly have not.. and based off offers, measurables, highlight film, and OSU interest.. i can not say that CJ Barnett is anymore of an elite prospect than Storm Klein or Justin Turner or Marcus Hall..

Fields.. yea, id put CJ over him... but Chris is a very nice prospect.. i totally disagree that he's destined for just a "situational role"...

And while i think he's not as good of a prospect as Barnett.. Duane having one 7th and one 8th doesnt have me up in arms..

Then it seems odd you are so convinced they can't say Klein isn't every bit the LB prospect as CJ is at CB.

I was just giving my two cents. All I've seen are highlights and listened to opinions from those who actually have seen these kids' games and how they've looked at combines and camps. The general opinion seems to be Simon, Fellows, Barnett, and Hall are the best in Ohio, give or take. None of us will know the correct rankings until they finish their college careers. It's just fun to debate.

I'm all for debate on these guys.. and you're right i havent seen gametape, therefore, if someone tells me Player A is better than Player B.. i may disagree but im not gonna say their rankings suck or are laughable or are ridiculous, etc..

Yes in the past ive dogged Rivals on certain players but that was more because i knew for a fact they werent paying attention to Ohio..

Duane on the other hand follows this stuff closely, has gametapes, has connections in Ohio... therefore im not gonna rip him for his rankings.. im sure he's done a ton of research on these guys and seen alot of tape..

Im all for debate on guys.. and Oregon, if you feel Barnett is clearly on another level than guys like Turner, Klein, Fields, than great, you're entitled to that opinion..

I just dont think bashing other people for having a different set of rankings is warranted.. (not saying you're doing this, but others are)

I've seen hundreds of upper-echelon '09 OHSF players on film or in person and I am familiar with the stats of most of the "consensus" top 200 players in the state. I also consider myself someone who has a decent understanding of what it takes for players and teams to succeed on each level of organized football. I believe that Duane was pretty far off on some of his evaluations, and fairly accurate with others. Because I have my own opinions on this matter, I decided to make my own list.

1. Melvin Fellows
2. Johnny Simon
3. Jamie Wood
4. C.J. Barnett
5. Storm Klein
6. Marcus Hall
7. Chris Fields
8. Tank Carridine
9. Corey Linsley
10. J.T. Turner
11. D.J. Hunter
12. Jon Newsome
13. Fitzgerald Toussiant
14. Pat Muldoon
15. Desmar Jackson
16. Will Studlien
17. Jullius Ferrell
18. Derrell Mason
19. Jack Mewhort
20. Bud Golden
21. Denicos Allen
22. Mark Mays
23. Perez Ashford
24. Ryan Spiker
25. Bryan Underwood
26. Isaiah Bell
27. Chris Freeman
28. Dale Peterman
29. Nathan Klatt
30. Chris Williams
31. Adam Homan
32. Devonte Payne
33. Chris Snook
34. Sam Longo
35. Adam Bellamy
36. Terrence Davis
37. Zach Boren
38. Bradley McDougald
39. John Prior
40. Terrence Owens
41. Orlando Spikes
42. Patrick White
43. Brad Rogers
44. Storm Timson
45. Ricky Harris
46. Mike Marrow
47. Branko Busick
48. Dan Molls
49. Nate Cadogan
50. Soloman Jackson

5/8 - Dropped Jackson out of the top 10. Moved Chris Williams to 30 from UR. 1-6, 7-12, 13-19 and 20-30 could all be shuffled and still not be too far off.

I've been a fan of Duane for a while, and I wonder how updated that list is.

What stood out to me is that these rankings don't agree with what he said on a recent Bucknuts radio hour. He said that he's a big fan of Linsley and he's very skeptical of Mewhort at this point, but he has Linsley only one spot higher in the rankings.
