OH WR David Dowell (Michigan State signee)

I highly doubt the cost/worth of the education had anything to do with him committing to UK. Fact is, from top to bottom the SEC recruits at a higher level, and has separated itself as the strongest conference in CFB. The middle to bottom of the Big 10 seems quite complacent either going to average bowl games or just being bad. Though UK, and bottom feeders of the SEC will continue to be bad, they're certainly going down fighting. Stoops actually is selling kids a dream like the rest of the bad teams in the SEC, pretty much just get to play the best in the nation in our conference. It sucks that Big 10 region states keep losing kids to SEC schools, but until teams outside of OSU and scUM step up their recruiting efforts, 2nd tier kids will continue to head to schools in the south. Best of luck to David, he would've been a great pickup for NW, now he'll be a peg in Stoops' new system

There seems to be something enticing about living in a shit hole and getting punched in the face repeatedly by the strongest guys in the country. Snake oil anyone?

Nail meet head...
But it doesn't help when Big 10 coaches aren't helping the matter and twiddling their thumbs. Franklin has come in, and in a few months recruited at an exceptionally high level at PEd St, and he came from bottom feed Vandy, where he also recruited quite well. It's inexcusable that Illinois, Minnesota, NW, etc can't recruit at higher level with the talent in their backyards. Can't really blame the snake oil salesman when people are willing to buy

This is where the rest of the B10 needs to step up in recruiting! Hate seeing talent leave our region and head down south. These are kids MSU, Wisky and NW etc should be getting. Kentucky is historically the worst football school in the SEC and a basketball school at that. Bottom line is we have two elite HC in terms of recruiting in the B10. Gotta get better....end of rant! OH-

Agreed - unfortunately a lot of B10 schools don't put the money into the top recruiters that they should be giving.

Vince Marrow is an absolute beast on the trail and he makes a very nice 275K as recruiting coordinator and TE coach. Some other B10 schools like Indiana for example pay their recruiting coordinator 180K...Purdue's? 130K. Wisconsin's is better at 230K but that's still nearly 50K less than Kentucky!

UK I think is a good comparable to schools like Indiana and Purdue in the B10 - bottom of the tier conference schools. Pay premium on recruiting and you'll get the results like UK is seeing but pay arguably the 2nd most impactful staff member 130K and you'll get Purdue like results.

Another kid giving up playing at a mediocre football program and getting a top class education for playing at a mediocre football program and...and...I guess that's it. Hands down stoops is the best salesman in college football. Would make a great hire by ttun.

But 130k is a bargain and we know big ten schools love a good bargain.
