2024 OH S Reggie Powers (Oklahoma Verbal)

Can’t blame anyone on the board disagreeing with how “management”, aka his fathers tweet can be interpreted. But honestly, tbh, I can’t blame him in the era of NIL. Family’s are going to be opportunistic. I don’t think he ends up at OSU even without the tweet though. I just don’t feel like he’s a high priority at this time. He would be a ESD surprise if anything, imo.

I hate how jaded recruiting has made all of us.

He used “management” as kind of like a bulletin. Like a sign on a business that is tagged “management” or “mgmt.” It wasn’t him announcing or indicating that the kid has a manager.

Idk how we haven't become jaded over years and years of the NCAA "student athlete" farce. We were talking about uncles of recruits way back in the 70s and 80s. None of this is new, it's just above board now. That's what baffles me about CFB fans now. Everyone wants to act like paying recruits, family's wanting in, hanger on friends, etc is new since NIL. In Friday Night Lights, Boobie Miles' uncle was his gatekeeper for colleges, Marcus Dupree in MS had "uncles" who acted on his behalf, we all know about Eric Dickerson and the Trans Am, Cris Carter speaking with an agent in college(and the streets of Middletown are flooded with stories of his financial exploits while at OSU), the Switzer OU teams making money through boosters and illegal means, and the list can go on and on and on.

But as far as recruiting goes, Powers isn't the type of S that OSU is looking for in the class. He's more of a S/LB hybrid, and Stover has taken that spot in the class.

Four-star Ohio safety Reggie Powers decommitted from Michigan State last month, but there only appears to be mild interest from OSU’s end in the Centerville product at this time. Ohio State has maintained some contact with Kentucky defensive back commit Terhyon Nichols, and it will be interesting to see if anything materializes between the Cincinnati product and the Buckeyes before National Signing Day.
