2024 OH S Reggie Powers (Oklahoma Verbal)

I’m starting to wonder if it was an OFFER… I wanted him in the class when they initially offered and my excitement continued until there was a real possibility to land Woodward or Bolden. And when I never heard much positivity regarding his coverage skills, my excitement began to wane. Because in this defense he’s more of a LB than S, but he doesn’t have the freakish profile of someone like Sonny Styles(or even what Dorian Brew is rumored to be turning into)
I don't think it was an OFFER...if Powers had the greenlight, he would take it. There may come a point where we want to OFFER him but I just think there are higher targets we still have a chance at. I like Powers and perhaps he ends up being another one of the Ohio guys that "got away" if we don't take him now, but I don't disagree with the coaches if they are still feeling out other prospects at the position. Always want to see a GWOC kid get a spot, but OSU obviously has to bring in the best talent they see fit.

I wouldn’t expect a flip to OSU anytime soon. As this is more due to what’s happening at MSU more than anything

Allen Trieu put out an article on FS Reggie Powers's decommittment.

Powers (6-1, 200 pounds) has received new offers from Oklahoma and UCLA in recent weeks along with renewed interest from Louisville, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Washington and Utah.

Lots of red flags here.

His camp could be upset about the initial offer from Ohio State that seemingly wasn’t commitable at the time, or that Ohio State isn’t throwing out the $Ks for campus visits that Gene Smith recently talked about. “Management” also could indicate the kind of recruitment that Ohio State typically doesn’t do well in i.e. management expects and gets incentives as well as the player.
