2025 OH QB Tavien St. Clair is a Buckeye!!!

"Wiltfong has a new Wiltfong Whiparound out and he explains his CB for St. Clair. Says that St. Clair grew up wanting to play for Ohio State. Tennessee and Penn State have been working hard on him but Ohio State should have the inside track given he is an in-state player and the Buckeyes' QB development is tough to beat. Wiltfong also called him one of the hottest recruits in the country and thinks he will get another big bump when the next 2025 ranking update hits"

I know originally St. Clair had said he wanted to wait until next year to commit, but I'm sure with the offer, the timeline has been pushed up. And now OSU is in an interesting position with 2 very talented in state QBs, and a QB with amazing talent and upside from the State up north. Because do they take the instate guys earlier(they may be ready to commit by the end of their junior seasons at the latest, but I wouldn't be surprised if one pulled the trigger before their season began to get it over with) or wait until next summer(at the earliest) for Underwood

It might have moved up some with our offer, but he'll take some visits and go through the process. I would guess next spring or early summer, but you never know with recruit timelines.

High praise from Birm.

Birm has been high on him, without sounding biased over Montgomery(I think all the OSU analysts have tried to remain neutral). But everyone has been in agreement that St. Clair's ceiling is REALLY high! I think it was Mark Porter who said that St. Clair reminded him somewhat of Cardale Jones. Where he was a pass 1st QB, but wasn't afraid to use his legs when the opportunity arises.

I have been saying something similar, Bellefontaine usually has a decent squad but is not a place that would garner publicity for a top football prospect. And if he were at one of those schools listed, he would have better talent to throw to and would be a 5*, I am with Birm on that one 100%.

That said, the coaching is pretty darn good at Bellefontaine and the competition is good enough that there should be very little concern on competition or coaching. Kid has made huge progress and is doing all the right things to improve his game, so when/if he gets to Columbus (heavy Buckeye lean but not a sure thing yet just to be clear) he should be ready to compete for the job. In all likelihood with Kienholz and Noland, that would be an uphill battle coming in, but there is no doubt St. Clair is an OSU-level QB.

On that note, LSU is coming hard after him and I expect Bama to pursue hard...I doubt it changes his favorite as OSU, but the process will take place where he gives serious looks at everyone. Shoot, he is only going to be a junior this year, so he should take the chance to take the sojourn out of Logan County and hit some campuses...before winding up at TOSU that is :)

To piggyback on your points, the fact that he's willing to have such an extensive camp itinerary this summer shows that he's willing to compete. And LSU and Bama offering and pursuing with legit interest shows that he's a national talent and not an in state safe choice.

To piggyback piggyback on your points points, LSU and Bama are making him a priority. Definitely OFFERS and they will come after him hard, they already are. Not that I think that changes his destination, but it definitely shows the kid is legit.

If Tavien continues on this track, I'm pretty sure he'll be a 5* guy nationally. And if not, who cares because we've got a pretty good track record here.

Birm said on the most recent Talking Stuff that he expects it to be only a matter of time before Tavien St. Clair is the #1 player in the state of Ohio for the class of 2025. Dorian Brew is currently 32nd in the composite, which would be 5-star status later on in the cycle, so Birm is basically saying he expects St. Clair to end up as a 5-star.

As he should be - holy cow has he improved, and physically he's already developed immensely.

The 2025 Ohio class is specialllll. He and Dorian Brew are high 5* talents imo.

St. Clair is most definitely our priority at QB, he has improved by lightyears as you said. Will be really cool to have an elite Ohio QB on the roster again, it has been some time since we had that.

2025 is off the charts, as a Dayton-area native it is exciting to see St. Clair and Brew as likely 5* level guys. Not like it is unheard of, but glad to hear there is still legit talent in the area.
