2026 OH OL Adam Guthrie (Verbal Offer)

Yeah, BestBuck, all of us as well. Well, we'll see if Day & Co can/will hire a home-run OL coach, with great teaching technique, as well as dynamite recruiting chops. Maybe that will turn the tide. Wonder what the chances are of grabbing one of these guys who have been out-recruiting tOSU for OL talent?

Give me a B caliber technique coach who is an A recruiter every time.

I don't care about transfer portal era, NIL or anything else. Be a decent coach of superior talent and you will look like a better coach than you really are.

Wiltfong and Mick Walker have put in RPMs for Guthrie to Clemson
Well that is disappointing. Frye and Kelly leaving had to play some role in this one I would think. Regardless, unless we flip him back (assuming he commits to Clemson), this was a huge miss. I can't sugarcoat that really. Big time talent in your backyard of OSU country. Can't lose this one, come on Day, Hartline, Bowen, etc...don't let this happen.

Anyone know if Guthrie was invited, much less attended, the Nati gala? Might be telling if either was a negative. Wonder if he might be one of those that just 'wanted to get outa town' guys. Hope he can be turned around.

He was invited and he did attend. I think it was more of the Clemson OL coach stayed the same and already had a strong relationship, while OSU's OL coach changed and he wasn't familiar with him. And I'm sure he no longer seemed like a priority.
It stings, but tbh he was a project and the lowest rated of the OH OL still on their board. Also, let's not forget the new OL coach is from the east coast and his region has been the DMV. But a class of Greer, Riley, Scruggs, Gray, Parks, Smith(and 1 of these names could be replaced with Wilhelm) is still a great class.
