OH CB/ATH Kyle McCarthy (Notre Dame signee)

I realize that one game does not a player make as I only got to see him in one game,(state champonship) but if that was any indication of his talent then I think we got a real keeper. He was a man among boys in that game on both sides of the ball.

He has not committed yet but tOSU is the biggest name school to have offered.
Notre Dame was in to see him this morning and Coach Bollman will be in this afternoon.

Schools are recruiting him as an athlete and the big schools are recruiting him as a DB. Coach T. told him that they are considering him as a CB.

He will visit C-bus this weekend and will visit ND and NW depending on how that visit goes.

He has offers from Ohio State, Toledo, Akron, Navy and Arizona. Boston College and Northwestern are also close to offering.

ND had an in-home visit with Kyle today.

ND has been Kyle's favorite growing up. Kyle's brother goes to ND and his grandfather played baseball there. ND is his dream school.

He does not plan on committing to tOSU this weekend but doesn't rule it out. If ND offers he will visit there.

Coach Tressel told him that he is the most underrated player in Ohio after viewing his tape.

How highly thought of was Fox coming out of High School? Was he a stud CB? or an underrated player much like McCarthy is?
Stud safety prospect, not a stud CB prospect.

Per O-Zone:

"Considered by McCallister Scouting Services to be the top overall talent in the state of Ohio this year. Outstanding safety prospect with great bloodlines. Uncles Ken Kuhn and Tim Fox are former Buckeye standouts, and brother Derek was a starting safety at Penn State. Chose OSU over Penn State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Miami, and others. A top 100 player."

4 years later, Dustin has turned out to be one of the most complete CBs to leave his mark on the program (in my humble opinion)...

Here's hoping that Kyle stays at home!

Fox also played as a DB in the U.S. Army AA Game, ala Whitner & Ginn. If I remember right, it was a coup for Tress to land Fox, Mo Hall, and Flydell near the end of the recruiting season. ALL were highly rated.

I'd sure like to see the same video that JT saw of him!

Is Kyle a true cornerback prospect or is he more of an athlete/saftey propsect. He seems like a really high quality kid and I hope we get him regardless, but I really think we could use some true corners on the roster.
