OG Austin Siereveld (National Champion)

Tegra and Carson as well. Proud of all four of those guys and they will be a strong and solid force in next years Offense.
Absolutely! Jackson and Fryar of course we'll miss, but seeing Austin, Tegra, Carson and Montgomery excel at a high level has to make you feel good about the future, especially with the Portal OTs we picked up. Plus I do think any of Austin, Tegra or Montgomery can slide out to OT (probably RT). Austin along with those mentioned really saved us after crucial injuries and since OL never get the love, I am here to give him a shout out for playing great football that was really crucial in getting the Natty.

Agreed! Our OL as a whole is relatively young. What Frye has done with Carson, Austin, Tegra and Luke has been impressive. Think about these guys with another year under their belts. The addition of Daniels and Onianwa only solidifies what will be a strong OL. The fact that Onianwa will be a senior gives us experience at a key place on the OL.
Also excited to see/hear about the further development of Padilla, Moore, Van Sickle and the Armstrong twins. Out of all of these guys I'm most excited about Moore.

I can't pretend to know how it shakes out on the OL, but mark this cat as a guy that can start anywhere on the OL except center if needed. I know we have the portal guys coming in and Montgomery and Tegra are very good, but this dude will find his way here.

Speaking earlier in the spring, OSU head coach Ryan Day was asked if there could be a starting spot for Siereveld somewhere along the offensive line.

"I hope so, I hope that's his goal," Day said. "When you think about the guys who have come in that third year, a lot of those guys take the next step, and that's what we want with Austin. Usually, it's a good sign when you're an Iron Buckeye coming out of the winter.

"It's a great sign. We got done (with the playoff) on January 20th, and then you start up just a week later. But sometimes you can come in with a different demeanor, a different look in your eye, a different approach, and he's so far shown that look in his eye."

Tyler Bowen was hired from Virginia Tech to replace Justin Frye as the offensive line coach. He appreciates the fact that Siereveld can be a plug-and-play guy at nearly every O-line position.

"Austin's done a great job," Bowen said. "He's played both tackles this spring, both guards, played every position but center. It's a luxury if a guy can handle it, and he's certainly shown the ability to do that. I've been very impressed with him.

"Watching him on tape, he has very little missed assignments -- and that's in all four of those positions."

OL Austin Siereveld, 78 OVR

It says something about Siereveld’s progress that he’s now the favorite to start at right tackle for Ohio State – a hair ahead of Minnesota transfer Phillip Daniels – after just beginning to work at the position following his move outside from guard this spring. An offensive lineman capable of starting at two positions for the defending national champions feels better than a 78 overall, in this writer’s opinion.

That’s before considering the fact that Sierveld was one of three Iron Buckeyes recognized this offseason by the team’s strength and conditioning staff. He started six games and played 495 snaps in 2024, the sixth-most among Ohio State’s offensive linemen.

Even if it’s not at right tackle, Siereveld is in line to start as one of Ohio State’s best five offensive linemen, per Ryan Day.

"I thought Austin did a nice job moving around," Day said in April. "I think he really took a big step for us. And so, yeah, I don't think we're in a position to really get into, like, who's starting and who isn't and at what positions. Austin Siereveld is going to be a starter for us. He's an excellent player. Really had a good spring for us."

UNDER THE RADAR. You can always set your watch to what kind of content will be produced by college football outlets in mid-July. Preseason predictions, watchlists, media days content and anonymous-sourced pieces where college coaches give their true thoughts on teams and players for the upcoming year.

Well, one piece that fits the final category was released on Wednesday, as 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz polled sources around the Big Ten to gather intel on 25 under-the-radar players to watch for the 2025 season.

Two Buckeyes were mentioned in the piece: Running back James Peoples and right tackle Austin Siereveld.

Here’s what the sources said on each player.
  • On Peoples: “Compact, explosive runner with a thick lower body and has really good short area burst.”
  • On Siereveld: “He's been looking like a dude this offseason.”
Peoples is on track to be OSU’s starting running back this season, or at the very least see significant carries. Siereveld has already been confirmed as a starter by Ryan Day, it’s just a matter of whether he’ll play right tackle or guard. Either way, like random not-named Big Ten sources, I too am bullish on big seasons for that duo.
