Official Super Bowl thread....

I am not a Steelers fan by any means...I'm a Bengals fan. So...i'm not biased in this one. This game WAS NOT fixed. To say it was is just rediculous. All the holding calls were legit. The Roethlisberger TD was a TD. The PI call was PI, so what if it was ticky tack...it's still PI...just like it was PI in the Fiesta Bowl in 2003. Pass Interference is pass interference...why would you not call it just because it's the Super Bowl?

I was one bad call...the clip. And if you watch it in real time...it DID look like he clipped the blocker, but in reality he never touched him...and yeah, that's a bad call...but that happens. Then they call that play a fumble (because you can barely see he was touched and down by contact) but they review it, and GET IT RIGHT.

The NFL would not jeporadize the integrity of the NFL to fix a game. If you are pissed because the Steelers won, BY 11 points...then fine. But maybe Seattle should learn how to run a two-minute drill instead of looking like they've never even practiced it before.

The Steeler defense won this game. They stopped the NFL MVP. And a great play-call and pass from a Big-10 QB (Randell El) puts the game away for the Steelers. The Seahawks HAD to know he was going to pass there. Bad defense.

I agree with most of that but that Roethlisberger touchdown was not a touchdown. Anyways, the better team won because the better teams know how to capitalize on their oppurtunities and they make big plays.

Worst officiated Super Bowl I can ever recall watching. It makes no difference to the steeler fans cause they won, and regardless, a win is a win is a win.

But that game is won by the Seahawks if they make those numerous terrible calls right.

Never would have thought it would be that bad.

This is the last time I'll say this, because it will get old...but the ball crossed the plane, and then was pushed back, and then after Ben was down, he pushed it back across. All it has to do is break the plane at all...and it did. That's a TD. Correct call.

I have to say that was a pretty strange game. It was like both teams could not relax at any point.

As a lifelong Browns fan, congrats to the Steelers. You guys made the playoffs from a 7-5 record at one point, won every game on the road and won the Super Bowl!!!

Sorry but that ball didn't cross the goal line. I'm not saying that's why Seattle lost but it wasn't the right call.

You must have watched a different game cause that ball never crossed the plane. Let's not even go into the 2000 other bad calls.

The game was not fixed. It just was absurdly one-sided in its reffing. However, Seattle squandered away so many chances, horrible clock management, their TE dropping about 400 passes, etc.

The refs did not win the game for Pittsburgh. Seattle's mistakes were plentiful, but were also not the whole story.

The push off td was a td, I've never seen any foul that light (see Ward at 3qt 9:50 exemplifying how raping a DB with a pushoff is part of the game). Parker's TD was assisted by a clear hold, take that one off the board.

That makes the score 14-14.

I was not a fan of the holding call before the pass to the 2 by Seattle (afterwards there was an INT). Much worse holding by the right tackle in the drive before that by Pittsburgh, with no call.

The calls made a big difference.
Waaaaaaaa! Waaaaaaaaa! Everybody holds all the time, figure it out.:horse:
everybody? I don't remember any flags on pittsburgh, compared with 3-4 first down cancelling calls against seattle.

wow, Hasselbeck's everywhere on this play. he has time to block a Pittsburgh player and THEN make the tackle too. Amazing! :roll1:

10:54) M.Hasselbeck pass intended for D.Jackson INTERCEPTED by I.Taylor at PIT 5. I.Taylor to PIT 29 for 24 yards (M.Hasselbeck).
PENALTY on SEA-M.Hasselbeck, Low Block, 15 yards, enforced at PIT 29.

Holmgren is a dick if he didn't shake hands after the game, as it appeared he didn't.

And I'm not going to say the game was fixed, but Joey Porter better never complain about officiating again...ever. Whether that had anything to do with tonight, who knows.

I'm glad Bettis is retiring...good way to end, and no offense to him, but if what Michaels was saying is true, it would be total bullcrap if he was paid millions to play and didn't have to practice like everybody else (next year).

I agree that there aren't a lot of offensive pass interference calls as light as the one called on Seattle, but how does that make it an incorrect call? He clearly gained an advantage by pushing his hand right between the numbers. On top of that I believe there was another offensive PI call against the Steelers in the game, so it seemed like they were calling it even on that front. I'm not sure about missed holding calls on the Steelers, but I didn't see any calls on the Seahawks that weren't holding.

NOt being a fan of either team and not being a fan of the NFL as a whole, this game reminded why I prefer college ball.

Every call went in favor of Pittsburgh that was even near questionable.

The Off PI call was ticky tacky and throw in the fact that D Jack was held on the play and that was ignored.

Let me rephrase this call "Personal foul on #8 for tackling the ball carrier"

The pass down the middle to the one should have been Offsides on Haggans, not Holding on Locklear.

Anyway. Thank you NFL for reaffrimg my distaste for the crap product you present week in, week out.

Peace.

Is it September yet?
