Official Jesse Palmer is a horrible analyst thread

daddyphatsacs

Let the cards fall...
So I was watching that game tonight and I have declared that Palmer is one of the worst analyst's on TV. I mean, the guy tells us things that any novice football fan can figure out. It's as if ESPN hired John Madden to speak into a earpiece that Palmer goes on to translate. I cannot believe that any random dolt can get hired as an "analyst" these days.

Ok, I think I'm done with my rant now. Perhaps we can start compiling a list of his dumbest quotes? :wink2:

i didnt watch very much of the game but

a) ive traditionally liked how plamer keeps it positive in the vast majority of his discussion
b) if being john madden is bad well then im note sure what to say. madden was awesome at pointing out the obvious and not over-articulating the game...

He is far worse than that....

You summed up all of the reasons why I think he is a bad "analyst". When you make a bunch of obvious statements that leave the viewer saying "no [censored], thanks for stating the obvious", well you probably should not be hired to analyze a game. He adds nothing to the crew. He acts like a corporate robot with no personality. I want an analyst to be a bit of a know-it-all, because most of the good ones can point out things you don't normally notice when watching a game. Palmer does not offer that.

Huh? Were we watching the same commentator? Jesse Palmer is everything a sports fan could want: charming, muscular, handsome, suave, confident, assertive, and his teeth are pearly white. Just look at how talented he is:

No offense, Daddy, but I don't think you know [censored] about sports commentators if you don't recognize how insightful Jesse is.

Danielson, Jaws, Spielman. Davie & Herbie even make good comments, they just have some qwirks which drive folks nuts.
listen if jaws had a third of the intelligence he claimed he had he wouldnt have been tossing ints for ysu, lets be frank herbie sucked, danielson had what 6tds to 20 ints with a completion percentage sub 50%, spielman buys his suits at the thrift store and well he sucks to.

I don't think it's so much how they performed on the field. What I am simply saying is that he adds no depth to the game from the viewers perspective. Even Bob Davie can add something unique every once in a while. I like to hear a commentator approach a situation from an angle that I would not think of normally, instead of saying things that any of us can figure out. What's the point of him being there?

I think Charles Davis is pretty good. Jesse Palmer might be the worst I can think of off the top of my head. His insight seemed limited to using South Carolina's affiliation with the SEC to explain N.C. State's struggles.
