Crazy Laws in the US

http://www.crazylaws.com/

In Ohio it is against the law to run out of gas.

Some Michigan one's...

In scUM land you can legally own a handgun at the age of 12 as long as you don't any felonies.

In Clawson, Mich., there is a law that makes it LEGAL for a farmer to sleep with his pigs, cows, horses, goats, and chickens.

A Michigan law states that a wife's hair legally belongs to her husband.

I call bullshit...

I'm inclined to agree. After a cursory glance at City Codes and Ordinances, though, I did find this...

4527.07 Enforcement; Division may perform work.
<!--InlineTOC-->
(a) When the Division determines the presence of loose, chipped, peeled, or flaking paint or plaster which contains more than 0.3 milligram per square centimeter or more of lead-bearing substances upon any interior or exterior surface or fixture, the Division shall order the owner or owners to remove or permanently cover such paint or plaster in a manner approved by the Columbus health commissioner. The process of removal shall be accomplished in a manner which is not dangerous to the health of human beings and shall provide for the elimination and safe disposal of all flakes, chips and debris containing lead-bearing substances.

(b) If, after ten (10) days following the date of notification to the owner, the removal of lead-bearing substances has not begun and the owner of the dwelling or dwelling unit has not requested a hearing as provided by Section 4509.02, the Division may contract to have the work done. The Division shall cause the cost of such repair to be charged against the land on which the building exists as a municipal lien or to be recovered in a civil suit against the owner.

(c) There is hereby established a fund to treat surfaces containing 0.3 milligram per square centimeter or more of metallic lead if the owner or owners of the dwelling or dwelling unit fail to comply with the order of the Division made pursuant to Section 4527.07(a). The fund shall be reimbursed from, the costs recovered pursuant to (b) above. (Ord. 525-84.). The Division shall cause the cost of such repair to be charged against the land on which the building exists as a municipal lien or to be recovered in a civil suit against the owner.

So, which one of us is gonna go undercover at "the Division?"

Go for it Peach. I violate munerous of these and will continue to do so. I seriously think this site is bullshit.

Eh, from what I understand of these "laws", most were put on the books to combat specific instances. When said instances no longer existed, the laws faded from thought, never having been stricken/ repealed. They are actuall laws, but if a law goes un-inforced, it doesn't actually "exist". Catch my drift? :)
