I'm surprised, but I don't think he'd get much out of another year here.

That being said, I'd be surprised if he was picked up before the fifth round.

I'm not a draft expert; but, it wouldn't surprise me if he goes undrafted. :(

However, not being drafted may be a better thing for him than being picked in a late round, since basically you can choose the team you want to try out for (and the pay is about the same).

You get to see some stay, (Coleman) you get to see some leave early (Hartline) and both are surprises in their own way.

Got to wonder what he was told about draft projections, both what difference another year might make as much as where he stands today.

Best of luck Brian - you were fun to watch for the Buckeyes.

He will go before the fifth round. I would guess 3rd or so at the latest, and some of it just depends on if there is a run on wr's at some point in the draft.

I'll bet you 10-to-1 all of your vCash that Hartline does not get drafted in the first three rounds. No, make that 20-to-1...

I agree. Him getting drafted in the top three rounds would shock me especially when you consider all the other underclassmen(Crabtree, Maclin, Harvin?, LaFell, Britt, Nicks, Heyward-Bey, etc.) at his position that are going to get drafted higher that have declared which is just going to bump him down even further. Also consider the first wide receiver didn't go last year until like mid-2nd round if my memory serves me. I guarantee that's not going to happen this year, but receiver generally isn't a position where there's a ton of early picks like say defensive and offensive line. I'm not begrudging him for leaving at all though. I'm actually kind of glad he's leaving to give all our young guys a chance to get on the field and prove themselves. I really don't think having him changes what our record will be.

If he doesn't end up as a big player on offense, he should at least have a solid career on special teams. I'm thinking 4th round for Brian. Best of luck!

Second pick of the second round. Granted, when the first two recievers off the board are Donnie Avery and Devin Thomas, I think its safe to say that wide reciever was not a very talented position for the 2008 NFL draft. Also, despite the fact that there were no recievers drafted in the first round, there were 10 drafted in the second round, and there ended up being more wideouts drafted in the first two rounds in 2008 than in the first two rounds in 2007. The 2008 draft also set a record for number of wideouts in a single draft.

Could you give some examples of him not being "with the program"?

I said it seemed that he was not with the program. But various things this year have made it seem that way. The incident in Phoenix which caused him to not start the game, and he seemed to be very pro Boeckman and did not transition to Pryor well.

I want to say what he was rumored to have been involved in out in Phoenix is very mild for kids of that age. It is college and it is supposed to be fun, but he is supposed to be a leader and he needs to set the right examples for the younger players.

Good luck Brian in the NFL.

I see this as a win/win for Brian and the Bucks. Best of luck Brian.

He's graduating and getting married in I think may or june so I can't blame him for wanting to leave. He's been here four years and was big about being apart of the graduating seniors.

As a football player he's an is what it is type of thing. I'm not sure if he stuck around he'd go any higher. If he went this year or next he's going to have to fight to get on a roster and be able to contribute in special teams. Now he's got a head start doing it. He's what he is as a football player and an extra year isn't going to make difference. If he gets into a good situation in the NFL I think he can eek out a living doing it.

I've been saying it forerver......probably 2 years now.

Brian isn't the stat machine receiver with amazing measurables that will increase his draft stock. Brian is a 3rd-5th round pick no mater when he leaves. People saying he needs to come back to prove himself, don't understand the NFL draft.

I think it works out well that he leaves with his recruiting class.
