Which Buckeye had the greatest impact on the Ohio State history of the position he played?

Some of that was biased also... he made no secret in that podcast that Beck preferred him over JTB.
So he's got some loyalty there. We also know Warriner is a good OL coach... but a clear example of Peter Principle... Warriner was involved w/ bringing Beck on... and Beck has continued to unimpress at Texas with same issues. Didn't Herman claw back playcalling duties from him?
That's now 3 big-name (if not big results) programs that Beck has looked like a flop.
Warriner plays a part, but he didnt oversee coaching a QB room that obviously regressed after Herman and rebounded under Day.

You can have the best QB room in the universe, but if the guy calling the plays(Warriner) is calling the most predictable offense in CFB, it won't matter.
And I believe Cardale said that Herman contacted Beck about play calling when he was the OSU OC. I'm sure like @Nigel Tufnel said, the fans always need a fall guy, and Beck is that guy. We aren't in coaching sessions, and don't know how much input he even has at UT.

I don’t think Warinner possibly being a bigger part of the problem than everyone initially thought does anything to exonerate Beck from also being a fairly huge disaster as well.

I am perfectly comfortable thinking they both suck horribly in their own unique way - Warinner 99% for horrible game plans and/or play calling since he did good things as an OL coach, and Beck for some undetermined combination of sucking as a position coach for Barrett and Cardale’s massive regression and also whatever part he played in the game plans and play calling.

And hell, let’s not forget to throw Urban in the group of blame as well for his “aw shucks, we need to figure out how to get the RB the ball more” schtick over and over as he insists on using read option for 90% of run plays... specifically with Barrett in ‘15 and ‘16, and less frequently but just as egregiously with Haskins in ‘18 and the “aw shucks, we need to figure out this short yardage stuff.”

When Meyer forced Herman and Day to shoe horn read option into their play calling, they generally worked with it somewhat successfully - when he forced Warinner/Beck to do it we got the utter fucking offensive disasters that were MSU ‘15 and Clemson ‘16.

JT regressed in folks minds no matter who it was after his freshman year. Beck didn’t cause all of that. This whole hate Beck thing goes back to fans unwillingness to accept that the 2015 team just didn’t have the same chemistry that the 2014 team did by season’s end. Everyone just assumed we’d stroll through that season and when, inevitably, that wasn’t the case, folks had to have someone other than Urban and the whole team to blame. Surely Beck shares some of that blame, but not the lions share. Not even close. That was Urb’s team, and he oscillated between thinking that a read option offense wouldn’t work anymore because it caused too much harm to a QB and then thinking, nah, that’s still the best offense. Mix in Warriner play calling with Urb’s indecision and the 2 QBs and you have a mess. I take Cardale at his word that Warriner wasn’t the right guy for that job.

The regression of QB’s under Beck’s watch wasn’t a new revelation once he arrived in Columbus.

You're also forgetting the major point that Cardale made, where he said that coaches were more concerned with getting particular guys touches, than coaching for the flow of the game. That's a recipe for a disaster and you could see how the offense ran awkwardly at times, because Braxton, Dontre, Zeke, etc had to be forced the ball at times, and that would regress any QB...

He went as far as hiring him... and since taken playcalling duties back.

I like how both of you completely ignore the point. Cardale made it very clear Beck preferred him over JT... and thus going to bat for his guy.

As for fall guys... it's a case of accusing others of what you're doing.
Everyone has acknowledged Urban and Warriner played a role.
You're stuck on vindicating a guy that's sucked at Nebraska, Ohio State, and now Texas so you can make Warriner the fall guy.

It's a Max moment.

Jim Bollman was universally loved and praised by his players, during and after college. That doesn’t mean he deserved to be a high level offensive line coach.

I think the same principle applies to Beck.
