OC Chip Kelly (Official Thread)

My guess is timing and knowledge. Did Day know Kelly was looking for a new job until the NFL rumors started? Kelly was also probably feeling hopeful about NFL instead of College.
When the NFL passed on him and BOB moved on at about the same time... the stars aligned.

Kelly was in the running in the first cycle. The rumor is that Kelly pulled back because he wanted to give UCLA a chance to figure out how they can compete in the NIL world. UCLA basically came back to him and said they weren't going to change much which is why Kelly was ready to leave.

The other part that been reported is Kelly has said he just wants to coach. I think this is a big thing that the NCAA needs to address or they will lose good coaches. I think they need to rethink the amount or restrictions of who can recruit. They probably need to expand it to more than 10 or allow more coach only positions or more recruiter only positions.

Well that would make a ton of sense, maybe Kelly was Day's pick but he needed to make a decision on an OC and Kelly couldn't commit at the time. And if he just wants to coach, that works fine with OSU imo. I mean, he is going to have to have some interaction with recruits but when you have Day, Hartline and Alford on offensive recruiting, you are pretty set in that department. If Kelly can improve our offense by focusing on coaching, then hell yeah I am ok with it.

All the outrage over an old-ish head coach stepping down to take a cushy consulting/coordinating job is a little much. Chip Kelly going from head coach of the UCLA Bruins to running one of the most talented offenses in the country at Ohio State is exactly how I’d want to spend my twilight years if I was a football coach.

Think about it. Chip doesn’t have to worry about a roster full of kids flirting with the transfer portal, who’s getting how much NIL money, or stand in front of the firing squad following losses. Nor does Kelly have to face a younger version of himself at USC annually, figure out the mechanisms of changing conferences, or lobby for his team’s spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. He’s 60 for Christ’s sake.

Chip Kelly Net Worth

$25 Million

Just sayin': Sure makes sense to me...........8D

It's the same outrage over getting our NIL game in order.

"It's not fair that the team that wins a bunch is doing what we did to level the playing field......making the playing field uneven again. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhh."

Lol now all we need is a mountain for cabins near columbus and we can be retirement for old coaches who just want to coach ball.

SSaw that the other day and meant to post it. He's a hell of an ambassador for the program.

The way he speaks and carry’s himself is incredible for his age. As you said, perfect ambassador for our program.

I also loved how he remembered Day was coached by Kelly. Tells you a lot how much these players respect our coaches.
