OC Chip Kelly (Official Thread)

I was around for that. I don’t recall doing it, but

Holy shit, did you just see that 1-handed catch from the USC receiver?

Ok… back to my response… I was here for that, but I don’t recall splitting threads. If it worked, it probably wouldn’t be a bad thing to consider. For the community, I don’t think that the single game threads are great. Alcohol, emotions, and other… in a single thread is a recipe for disaster if ANYTHING goes sideways in the game. Plenty of threads are documented here to underscore my point.

Yes it was. They practice and try to win too, ya know.

The stuff I saw was correctable. First game of the year type stuff.

Freaking out over a 46 point win where they did move the ball in chunks is so in character for this fanbase though.
It’s freaking out to say the O Line is “troubling” and questioning if its truly fixed?

Not sure Id call that freaking out.

It’s clearly the main difference between elite teams and tOSU, it’s been our biggest weakness lately (and even Day has only admitted that) so I was hoping to see a noticeable improvement.

Thats hardly freaking out. Its an honest assessment.

Some people are....and it's dumb. I'll leave it at that.

It seems like you’re missing a huge point here. The entire interior line was starting g their first games as a Buckeye. Not sure exactly what you were expecting. We had 170 rush yards for over 5 yards per carry and gave up 0 sacks. Not sure exactly how that’s troubling. Were they world beaters? Hell no but they got the job done and improved as the game went on. Decent first game in my opinion but I guess some people were expecting 300+ yards rushing.
Honestly man, Fryar was the most troubling at times

He’s just not a tackle.

Yeah, as soon as that first playoff schedule was announced we got flooded with Gump trolls. The mods created a separate thread that was strictly for shitposting. I think it was even in the thread title. It was actually a lot of fun. It also kept serious football discussion in the main game thread ( for the most part). If I recall correctly, anybody trolling in the game thread got nuked, but the other thread was "anything goes". A lot of "lively banter" going both ways.

No, just old brother. My energy has to be stored up for Oregon and Cunts up North games!

Tell me about it. When I realized that I was enjoying other teams more than the team I actually love is when I made changes. I can just watch another team with no critiques, just loving football. But the team I love, I was watching as if I hated them lol.

That's a great way of describing it. A lot more animosity these days, and personally a lot of relief instead of celebration when good things happen. Getting easier to put things into perspective, though.

Probably because you've invested time and energy into knowing the ins and outs of your team. Expectations are at an eleven. Other teams are for shits and giggles involving the outcome. We have been spoiled. Just enjoy the ride for the next 3/4 months.

Deep down I have to be my own psychologist when we are struggling against teams like Akron, but I've cooled it on the surface after years of experience. And mostly I don't post during the game and post after watching it again because it happens too fast to make snap judgments. For example, I was too busy catching up with alumni buddies and missed that Jackson wasn't playing on the OL.

As for Chip, it was Week 1 and even with the familiarity with Day, I think we'd be naive to not expect some hiccups regardless. I'm looking myself on the mirror on that comment. I fully expect to see improvement as we go along and the good news is our schedule allows for that this year.
