I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the backup receivers seemed ill prepared compared to his previous years. It wasn’t lack of talent.

My only concern is not whether or not Smith can do the job, but rather how long will he stay? We will have three OC's in three years. This hire could result in four OC's in four years if after a successful season he jumps back to the NFL. Hoping for both success and longevity. Welcome to Buckeye Nation Coach!

If I wanted a Patricia comp for the offensive side it would have been hiring Mike McDanial from the Dolphins.

A successful, creative mind on his side that eventually wore people thin as an overall leader/head coach. Both he and Patricia seem to have some quirks that intensified when they started to lose (capri pants and rapping with his players to look cool vs. backwards hat and sloppy dress). But no one questioned their football knowledge.

Anyway, I’ll keep listening to the people selling this idea as good.

I don’t want to be completely miserable about this for 7 more months. :lol:

He was the head coach in Atlanta. NOT the offensive coordinator. There's a difference.

1. This isn't the same thing. The complaints about Patricia were about his demeanor, his extensive time away from the college game, his ties to a Patriots system that hasn't produced a single thing outside of NE. These are anecdotal. The complaint about Arthur Smith is that he sucks at his job. That's it.

2. Go raid the Tim Beck thread and read all the wait and see, trust the coaches hopium. Just because people were wrong about Patricia, that doesn't mean every hire that comes with a group of negative Nancys will end up like the Patricia one. What if they hire the Browns homeless guy who wanted Manziel? Everyone gonna say "But it worked for Patricia durr durr durr"?

Dude. Shut the fuck up. Seriously. Idk why the mods haven't given you a warning by now. This guy was the OC of MULTIPLE top NFL offenses and got Ryan Fucking Tannehill to the Pro Bowl ffs.
