Observations from C Deck (Iowa 2005)

You can be sure that I are poking fun at Iowa.

Speaking of that, there was a sign taped on the outside of a big porta-potty near the RV tailgate lot Saturday. It said something like this:

"Note to IOWA fans: Use real toilet paper and flush it when you're done. We don't want a bunch of corn cobs clogging up these toilets."

I was pleasantly surprised that the sign was still there after the game.

Saturday was the first time I can recall that I could not follow the ball with Smith at QB. It only happened a couple of times, but it did happen. Troy is certainly not the complete QB, but he appears to be moving in the right direction.
If you look at Mili's clips, on "Pittman blasts mouthpiece" run, Smith runs like he still has the ball after the handoff and it freezes Hodge for a split second and totally fools one of the D-linemen. That little bit extra gave Pittman enough time to get about 10 extra yards on that play. This is something Texas does very well, however Smith is gonna need to take that and keep it every once in a while to keep defenses guessing.

EDIT: This wasn't even one of the better ones that I saw, and it still worked.
