This O-line is, uh, a problem. But let's be honest, it's composed of Taylor Decker, a couple converted defensive players, and a couple linemen whose best offer from schools other than Ohio State was Northwestern. I think all of the years of lackluster O-line recruiting is coming home to roost this season.
Wow that was sobering. Very true and now that you put it that way why the hell did I think everything was going to be fine after losing 4 starters?

Because it has in the recent past.. I agree, recruiting roosting + banged up - need to get something figured out

The offensive line was pretty terrible under Bollman, too, but we were still bringing in big-time O-line recruits like Adams, Shuggarts, Norwell, Mewhort, etc. until the fallout from Tressel's resignation. It was pretty apparent at that time that the lackluster play was attributable to poor coaching and play calling. We had a pretty nice OL haul last year, but we've also had several years of absolutely horrific recruiting along the OL in recent years when we've missed again and again on our primary targets. This despite the fact that we've recruited so well at virtually every other position while Meyer has been at the helm.

Warriner is a great OL coach, as evidenced by how he turned a chronically under-performing group into perhaps the best OL unit in the country last year. But that was a truly a talented group composed of 4- and 5-star recruits, two of whom are now NFL starters. It should also be noted that some OL recruits that were expected to be studs have thus far not worked out for various reasons, included among them transfers (e.g., O'Connor, Dodson, etc.). Warriner will get the job done if he has talent to work with, but you need both talent and competent coaching to make a great OL.

And yet we only have 3 committed recruits on the O-line for 2015.

And OL recruiting should be the staff's #1 concern, right now, for all the reasons stated above.

Bingo. I was worried heading into the season because as an avid follower of recruiting, I saw the same thing on our roster. Last year we had Mewhort (consensus 4 star, drafted second round), Norwell (4/5 star and a hell of a guard), Linsley (consensus 4 star and starter for GB), Hall (4/5 star, great player), and Decker (high 4 star and potential first rounder). In comparison: Decker (he's good, see above), Price (3/4 star freshman converted from DT, Mmay be good down the road) or Hale (3 star converted DT, senior but almost no experience at guard), Boren (3 star and undersized center, still young though and room for improvement), Elflein (2/3 star guard with no other offers, earned his spot but I'm not seeing the upside), and Baldwin (3 star converted DE, do not see the upside here either...time for Lisle?).

Having said that, I think the future is bright but we are going to have significant growing pains. Hell, we expected that. But I am looking down the road at an OL that has Decker, Knox, Boren/Elflein, and two of Jamarco Jones/Marcelys Jones/Trout to round out the OL? Warriner can make that work.

Barrett isn't a bad QB. He'd be fine with some time to go through at least two reads. Last night it was one of three things - run, throw to the first read, or take a sack.

Braxton wouldn't be able to to a whole lot better throwing. He's more elusive, so he would've ran better, but he still would've taken as much of a beating.
