Ntre Ame 3 USC 38 (Final)

At what point margin does Charlie get fired? If SC drops a 50-0 spot on the irish, is he handed his walking papers as soon as he steps off of the bus?

I can't fathom back to back years where ND fails to score on Southern Cal.

Probably a more appropriate question - since this game is out of conference and certainly hurts their strenght of schedule. Does SC make a move to drop the Irish from their schedule (freeing up ND to play the Coast Guard Academy!!!11)

This is a rivalry game boys and girls. No way Notre Dame doesn't show up for this one.

This is their season!!!!

Why, I'm so confident in ND that I have wagered 5 of my hard earned vdollars on the Irish!!

It doesn't matter if you show up or not when you're coach is inept.

Question: How does the Cotton Bowl consider a 6-6 ND team. Especially one that gets blown out (maybe) by USC?

My, how the Cotton Bowl has fallen.

I think given the shaky economy, most bowls are looking to appeal to the largest fan bases. The holiday budget is tight for alot of people - so for a non-BCS bowl to invite a team like notre dame (and their huge following) it might make good business sense.

In the perfect world, ND gets pounded by SC, then takes the Cotton Bowl bid and gets CRUSHED by Texas Tech.

Maybe it's just me, but I would think the Cotton Bowl, a game that has decided its fair share of National Champions, would be more picky than having to settle for a 6-6 team. Even if it was ND.

I agree. I don't think the Cotton Bowl will stoop that low. Their going to sell out that game regardless of who goes so I don't think ND's large fan base will be a huge attraction. I don't think the Cotton Bowl has ever taken a team with five losses or more so I just don't see it happening.

Dude... this is the same team that beat us by 30+ (granted it was w/o #28 and TP didn't have many reps under his belt). But rest of the team that played USC was FAR FAR better than ND.

in my opinion...ND is not going to score unless they get lucky on a return or pick etc. USC is going to score 35+

Re: (ov/un 46.5)

USC probably has the best defense in the country. The over/under is really "Do you think USC will score more than 47 points?"

Yeah, we lost to them 38-0 last year. Considering the team is a little more experienced, I still expect it to be a blowout. 30 points is probably a fair/close margin. I don't see USC sleeping through this one though, this isn't an unexpected Oregon State loss. This is a rivalry game for both teams, USC will come to play.

lost 38-0 at home. this year you are on the road.

Its not the tickets, its the advertisement, viewers, the whole package. A lot of bowl games will sell out, but did did OSU vs. ND bring big bucks a few years ago? You betcha, woulda brought in a ton of viewers and cash in a small bowl, those are two huge fan bases and fan bases that extend well beyond regions. Don't get me wrong, it would be ridiculous for the Cotton Bowl to accept a 6-6 ND team based on winning 6 games on an easy schedule. Its rather absurd to believe they would make the consideration, the only logical reason would be the cash/viewership they'd rake in.

Yeah, you weren't at the game last year. Dunno if you saw the Syracuse game last week, but we threw snowballs at our team. Might as well of been a neutral site or away last year for USC, there was no cheering, no attempt at picking the team up even before the 1st quarter was over. I was in the student section for part of the game, then in our usual seats 5 rows up from the away bench...not much difference in atmosphere. Only difference was standing or sitting lol. Like I said, I expect this to be a blowout, I still see this being a 30 point loss, I certainly don't see this being anything but another humiliating defeat. I'm simply going with the line here because we've had another year of experience...to keep it around a 30 point loss lol.
