Notre Dame @ tOSU, Sat Sep 3, 7:30PM (ABC)

Damn, 17.5 is hefty. Tempted to take ND on that but at the same time I could see us being up 21 at half time.

it is a wide spread but I think the buckeyes cover easily.

Ohio State had the best passing offense and a top RB last year, now they have made some tweaks with the OL coaching so it’s possible that the run game will be maximized too.

The defensive issues from last year have been addressed on paper and we will see if that translates on the field right away or if it will take a few games.

Even with a slow start, I would not be surprised if the Buckeyes came close or covered that spread by halftime.

A loaded team going against a program that just replaced its most winningest coach of all time with a DC who is coaching his first regular season game as a HC. Marcus Freeman might end up being a great HC for Notre Dame, I just don’t see it happening in his first game against what could likely be the best team in the nation this season.

Some might not get the vitriol for ND, and that’s ok

wait a minute

No, it bloody well is not ok.

There’s history here that all Buckeye fans should know and appreciate.

I have great respect for the generations that came before me. They got some things wrong though. One of them had to do with respecting your opponent.

Don’t get me wrong. I believe that respecting one’s opponent is the core of sportsmanship. But some opponents are not worthy of respect. The primary (and most common) reason that an opponent is unworthy of respect is if they are unable or unwilling to show you respect. This is our relationship with, not just TTUN, but the Domers as well.

I’m a 3rd generation Buckeye, but my generation was the first to get college degrees, thus the first to experience the world as alumni of the Ohio State University. We saw how the scUM grads and the ND alums shook hands and smiled at each other while giving us side-eye. We saw how they regarded each other as equals and us as some inferior species. We saw this happen even when the maize and blew and gold alums were in sales because they had failed as engineers but were good at telling lies while we were being awarded patents and were working to make the world a better place. Accomplishments didn’t matter; their bigotry trumped all.

If it had only been half of them that behaved that way I would not bother with this post; It was the VAST majority of them. Such a large majority that it is clear that their brand of bigoted (and utterly mistaken) elitism is endemic to the culture that is at the core of both of those rotten institutions.

So for me, as well as for everyone who has really gotten to know these dirt bags, disdain for ND is a close cousin of my seething hatred for TTUN. A smaller cousin who you don’t see as often, but in the same family.

So as always, screw blue. But for today

FUCK NOTRE DAME
I was born in Ohio. In 1973, my parents divorced and we kids were forced to move with our mom to her little home town in northern Indiana. About 30 miles from South Bend. I learned to hate Notre Dame at a young age. Fuck them. I root for Michigan when they play the domers.

(Coincidentally, the high school I attended in Indiana used Across the Field as their fight song but with different lyrics. After I graduated I enrolled at Ohio State, rented an apartment after two terms in the dorms and have been a permanent resident back home in Ohio again ever since.)

I will say, though, that I once lived next door to Brady Quinn’s grandma and I met his parents and an aunt. They seemed like nice people. Brady was playing for the Browns at the time and I told them I was finally able to root for him. I was hoping he’d commit to OSU during his recruitment but everything seemed to work out okay for all concerned and I bear him no ill will.

You still watch GameDay?
Nope. Quit watching years ago but I’ll check in when they come to town. Plus there was no Big Noon Saturday today since they did the pregame on Thursday. (God, Boilers, you totally blew that one. It was yours for the taking.)

GameDay started going downhill when they changed the theme song then really took a plunge after they added Desmond Howard to the crew. I gave it up shortly thereafter. But, like I said, I’ll check it out when they’re in Columbus.

That would be stupid since he’s from New York (born & raised in Minnesota).

But apparently this douchenozzle has no connection to Ohio State either. They should’ve gotten Mike Doss since the ‘02 team is in town.

Cie Grant was the singer on that team. Sang Camen at the shoe in the celebration ceremony

Now if Cie was singing and was in one of his moods that he gets in on Twitter then it is must see tv for sure.

Somehow the cold didn’t prevent them from having an event at the ‘Shoe that day. As I recall, the restrooms worked. And it was freaking COLD!!! I’m not sure if it’s been that cold since. Maybe once or twice. I bought a soda in a plastic bottle, set it on the ground, and within a few minutes it turned to slush. (Some added Jim Beam fixed that.) It was before they had seatbacks in the stadium and I wasn’t prepared to sit on a metal bench. Sucked the heat right out of your bottom. I went and bought a sweatshirt at the merchandise stand just to sit on. (Still have it. I also still have the black hoodie I wore to the Michigan game that year and my national championship hoodie which is still in excellent condition.)

Cie killed it. That was a great day.
