Notre Dame @ tOSU, Sat Sep 3, 7:30PM (ABC)

I’m sitting on my couch right next to a vaporizer eating suspiciously old Mrs. Grass chicken soup for breakfast. I have a flu/head cold and my throat feels like I swallowed a gross of hacksaw blades. No decent sleep in the last two days.

It’s the first day of buckeye football, what a great day to be alive!!!

I'm with you! Quarantined to the basement with COVID. Luckily minor symptoms. Feel better and go bucks!

Some might not get the vitriol for ND, and that’s ok

wait a minute

No, it bloody well is not ok.

There’s history here that all Buckeye fans should know and appreciate.

I have great respect for the generations that came before me. They got some things wrong though. One of them had to do with respecting your opponent.

Don’t get me wrong. I believe that respecting one’s opponent is the core of sportsmanship. But some opponents are not worthy of respect. The primary (and most common) reason that an opponent is unworthy of respect is if they are unable or unwilling to show you respect. This is our relationship with, not just TTUN, but the Domers as well.

I’m a 3rd generation Buckeye, but my generation was the first to get college degrees, thus the first to experience the world as alumni of the Ohio State University. We saw how the scUM grads and the ND alums shook hands and smiled at each other while giving us side-eye. We saw how they regarded each other as equals and us as some inferior species. We saw this happen even when the maize and blew and gold alums were in sales because they had failed as engineers but were good at telling lies while we were being awarded patents and were working to make the world a better place. Accomplishments didn’t matter; their bigotry trumped all.

If it had only been half of them that behaved that way I would not bother with this post; It was the VAST majority of them. Such a large majority that it is clear that their brand of bigoted (and utterly mistaken) elitism is endemic to the culture that is at the core of both of those rotten institutions.

So for me, as well as for everyone who has really gotten to know these dirt bags, disdain for ND is a close cousin of my seething hatred for TTUN. A smaller cousin who you don’t see as often, but in the same family.

So as always, screw blue. But for today

FUCK NOTRE DAME

Just depends on

We are going to give up 31 points to a team that can't throw the ball?

Gosh I hope not.

Personally I'm thinking 45-20.

That's the hope. And I don't know, their QB was a fairly high ranked recruit, they have a couple good WRs, and their TE might be the best in the nation. They might not have a prolific passing offense like we do, but I don't think they'll be below average in that category. I will say if we make them one dimensional and they can only run the ball, your score is much more likely.

Get well soon to both of you! The 'rona finally got to me about a month ago.
But honestly, what better excuse to sit around and watch football all day on the first full day of the season, amiright?

I just took an in-home test and yes, I am finally a Covid casualty. Overall, it’s a medium flu with the worst sore throat in my entire life. Thanks for the well wishes.

YEP, dealt with it three times. First time was much like yours, but the throat part was mild. Took all my energy. Second time it was a case of the sniffles and weepy eyes. Third time they gave me Parvolux. Left a god-awful taste in my mouth and didn't seem to do much. I've had all my vacs. First time came two days after a "watching Michigan get the shit kicked out of them" NY eve party; made all the better by the presence of a UM fan. Couple arrived late after attending a wedding. Yep, Typhoid Mary and her escort. 4 of us got the crud two to three days later. None of the cases lasted more than 4 days, but you can remain a carrier for a few days after.
