Notre Dame (football only discussion)

Unfortunately I still fear this ends with Pettiti and the Big Ten throwing them a life raft. And somehow it will still be on ND’s terms.

No faith in the leadership.

I think people need to stop thinking about it as "in the Big Ten" as we currently understand it. Set aside the big buildings, CCIC, grant money, endowments and all that. That stuff isn't on the table.

Why would we care if they are in the new "Football only, for television revenue sharing only big boys group" with a bunch of B1G teams, SEC teams, and a few other names like FSU, Miami, Clemson etc?

Before anyone dismisses this as fantasy, the B1g is currently working on a structure to create a sports only revenue entity as we have seen. The hang up was not it's existence or the concept. It was a procedural detail.

A football only, revenue sharing group of aligned football teams is where this is headed. Has to be.

Love all the ragging on ND. It's what we do and it's on-point.

But on a serious note, I kind of agree with them here. With all of the "good bowls" tied to the CFP, Notre Dame would be relegated to [checks notes] the PopTart bowl. The fucking PopTart bowl. They're a 10-2 team, by four total points, to top 10 teams, and they go to the PopTart bowl? Yeah, fuck that if I'm them. If it was Ohio Stat in that situation, would you be ok with it?

Add to that, their star players are definitely not playing (which everyone is, for the most part, perfectly ok with), so they have to re-do their scheme and all that, so it's not the real 2025 team anyway. They win, nobody cares. They lose, especially lose big, that result gets repeated all over next season. No win situation.

And it's the PopTarts bowl.

As far as practice. Fuck the NCAA. They should practice anyway. What's the NCAA going to do. Suspend a coach for a few games. All Notre Dame has to do is threaten to sue a few times and the NCAA will let them walk with a small fine. Bet.

I kind of begrudgingly think that this is the correct move.

Now back to your regularly scheduled shit-talking.

First off, Pop Tarts are delicious and should not be slandered in such a manner.
Second, the Pop Tart bowl is one of the better non-playoff bowls (BYU vs. GTech), so there's that.
But, mostly, they're delicious.

100% to this.

Easy solution - Playoff games to be played at the higher seeded team’s stadium and the championship at a rotating neutral site. This frees back up the Rose, Fiesta, Cotton, etc. for 2 and 3-loss teams.

That said…

True. They’re going to be a part of whatever league/conference/sport this turns into eventually.

We’re hurtling towards it.

Welcome to the AFC North-lite or whatever, Notre Dame.
